No doubt this has been discussed ad nauseum on here lol but after a couple of years of cleaning my diamond e-ring with dishwashing liquid I recently changed to something else and the result has been astounding!

I've always had the same ritual... 1-2 minutes in my little ultrasonic cleaner then a clean with an electric toothbrush in hot water with dishwashing liquid. It always came up really well but now I've changed to WINDOW CLEANER instead of the dishwashing liquid and it's AMAZING! It comes up so clear and sparkly! Just a couple of squirts directly on the ring and wow it gets it super clean!

Just thought I'd share!

Yeah, I use window cleaner all the time and I just started with Jet Dry in my US solution too and it is amazing!

The windex is only better then dishwashing soap when you don't have to rinse.   For example, when you clean your mirror or windows.  But when you have to rinse, I think dishwashing liquid is cheaper and does a better job.

I guess we can take a dirty drinking glass and clean it with windex and rinse; then repeat the whole process with dishwashing liquid and rinse with water and see which is cleaner.

I have tried this and found that hot water and Mr. Clean or dishwashing soap does the job.

I also found that a hot steamer will blow away any excess water and dry the diamond sparkly clean.  You can dry it with tissue; but that will leave some areas around the prongs out.

Windex too here and canned air, does a great job  It's the ammonia that cleans them and cuts grease so well apparently.

If you really want to see some sparkle try warm water and ammonia with a soft toothbrush

Does the windex cause skin irritation if you don't rinse it off?

I was using Windex for a while, but switched to Mr. Clean in my US and like it even better! I'm also a big fan of scrubbing with a baby toothbrush periodically as well.

Ditto, I use Parsons Sudsy and that does a fantastic job, plus it is cheap and a bottle lasts for ages.  I use about one third ammonia to 2 thirds hot water, soak for a few mins, scrub and rinse.  Also a wooden cocktail stick is great for cleaning around prongs and pavillion safely too.

When I have time I like to boil the water first, pour in window cleaner, let bling soak, then scrub with a baby toothbrush, and finally dry with a microfiber cloth.  DH and the kids think I'm nuts...I'll agree.  The sparkle is fantastic!

Yep, I always rinse it thoroughly under warm water.

The thing is, I'd been using dishwashing liquid for about two years and I noticed a distinct improvement the very first time I tried window cleaner instead. I've now been using it for a couple of weeks and I get the most amazing sparkle compared to the dishwashing liquid. I dry it with a clean cloth afterwards.

Any issues with the cleaners effecting the metal? Not anything drastic, but maybe making it more shiny or dull?
