I've been a lurker since the beginning of this year. I know I've turned to LIW in the past for comfort in the fact that I'm not crazy. I figure now is my chance to come out of hiding and say thanks to all the posters that have shared their stories.

Welcome !  I've been with my bf (now fiance) for about 6.5 years too ..actually getting closer to that 7 years for us.. and I just got engaged 3 weeks ago.. so I hope all of you ladies in the 6+ yrs relationship won't have to wait much longer :)

Thanks ladies!  After numerous talks, me crying my eyes out, and a position of moving out if he doesn't propose before our lease is up (he says ultimatum I say position), I've gotten that he wants to marry me, he wants to do it right, it will happen soon because he has a plan. I'm hoping all that is true because I've been doing really well about not bringing it up since I stated my position.

I have been "lurking" on this site for a few months now, but I finally felt compelled to post after reading this trail and almost crying tears of relief that I'm not alone (despite the seemingly endless swirl of wedding-related activity around me), and that there are others who have been patiently waiting longer than I have (3 years). To the other ladies who have posted on this trail, how about a little background info? ages, city, occupations, etc. I am 27, my bf is 30. We live (separately) in New York. I am an attorney, he is an acting student.

We started casually talking about marriage last year around this time. I told him I would like to be engaged before moving in in Jan. 06. but I gave in and moved in anway. We've had several discussions since we moved in. The last being the one where I gave him my position at the 6 month mark of living together (and the 6 1/2 year mark of our relationship). Our lease ends Jan. 31, 2007. Ever since that talk he's been hinting that he has a plan. So....We'll see what happens.

BF was kind up enough to let me know that he has an exact date picked out for a proposal (date range: today to before Feb. 17th.)
