Hey all, This past Saturday I ran into 2 old HS buds of mine whom I haven't seen for well ... years. I graduated back in 81. In any case we were talking about recent concerts we have seen and those we did back when we were youngens. A close friend of ours used to be a ticket scalper and would find out when concerts were going on sale the night before. He'd provide the beer and we'd stay up all night as Madison Square Garden/Nassau Colisseum to buy the tix as soon as it opened the next day. Crazy times indeed.  I was lucky enough to have seen some awesome shows at pretty close seats.I'm an old classic rock fan myself but I'll never forget seeing the last concert Pink Floyd played together as a complete band when they did "The Wall". I happened to have tickets for 2 different nights and could have sold my ticket for the 2nd show (back then) easily for $200 but didn't.  My daughter and I are getting ready to see Roger Waters together this coming September but was wondering what memorable shows come to mind from the folks here. Anyone here been around long enough to have seen The Beatles?All the best, Rhino Good Old Gold |

hmm... for me it is this past january... true geek that I am, we went to see lovehammers and inxs LOL I'd seen inxs back in 1983 and after last summer's whole rockstar thing, omg... well inxs was eh but we loved the lovehammers (marty casey) and hung out with the band after the show and one of them even stayed in our hotel all night... hehehe... only one of us girls was single but the three others of us lived vicariously! We even got free tickets (4th row center) for the NEXT night... that concert was so much better because we "knew" the boys in the band... and we got all the inside scoops on who was loaded and on what LOL Even got on the tour bus! ahhhhh to be a middle aged groupie!! bahahahahahahaha!!!

Wowza Cehra!!! Awesome!!! I would have loved to see INXS back in 83!!! I was out on an AirCraft Carrier at that time.  That's neat you got to go backstage too and all. Our most recent one we went to see Bon Jovi (wife's a BIG FAN) at Giants Stadium here and was during the heatwave here up north. Torturous but a great show. They played with Nickelback and it was an awesome show. Funny thing ... my cousin is in Jovi's offical fan club (has been for years) and he pulled her up on the stage during the show and she was on the big screen dancing with Jon! It was a real pisser watching her dance with him (if we can call all that jumping up and down dancing?)  What was your first concert Cehra?

Bon Jovi was actually my first concert - March 31, 1986. I was all decked out in spandex and white leather.

The first concert I ever went to was Crowded House which would have been back in the late 80s. Being my first concert, I loved it. The only other ones I've been to are Take That and Kylie Minogue. Unfortunately, Robbie Williams had already quit the band so he didn't tour with TT. I'll be seeing U2 in November and I can't wait for that one. They were supposed to have toured here in March but postponed (understandably so). Don't go to concerts too often - general admission tix are usually about AUS$100. _______________________ |

Rhino I believe you were at the same Pink Floyd "The Wall" concert as my husband. He would tell me about this concert and how it was the greatest concert he has ever seen. He too went both nights. I only wish I saw that show. He told me the set up was awesome and how a plane was set up to fly down and break down the wall. Oh, BTW, we are from Long Island as well. Just think how much you could have sold that Pink Floyd ticket for now!

I went to see The Police and the Cars when I was in the 5th grade . Jessica Simpson was the last concert I saw  but I'm going to see Disney's Princeses on Ice next month, for sure a great one

Oh my, a trip down memory lane! My first "real" concert was Duran Duran- the Seven & the Ragged Tiger tour in (I think) 1984 at the Forum here in L.A. I was just shy of 13 years old, and won a radio contest (anyone remember KIQQ?). I got 4 tixs to the concert, and a limo to the show. My 19-year old cousin was our chaperone. I remember wearing leggings, a HUGE t-shirt (belted), and ankle boots. because it was my first concert, it's really my most memorable one!

My first concert was Jimmy Buffett back in 1995. Since then, I've seen him a few more times, but the first was the most memorable for me. A few weeks ago, I saw Bon Jovi at Soldier Field here in Chicago--they were great!

The best - around '76 or 77 - the Eagles - the back up band was non other than Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks stole the show. Next to that - the Elements of the Universe - Earth, Wind & Fire ('80 or so). Jimmy Buffet always puts on a good concert.

Well, I am the same as you so I am not old enough to have seen the Beatles but a few years ago, my husband and I went to see Paul McCartney in Milwaukee (we live in Chicago but chose to go to Milwaukee for the smaller venue). Now, I have never been an huge Beatles fan but all I could say was 'WOW'. It's one thing to see a concert when you are young. You like a band and you go and that's pretty much it. But seeing someone whose career spanned your entire formative years is just amazing. He did stuff from the Beatles and from his Wings days. It was like re-living my entire childhood (which is both good and bad at the same time). We also went to see Eric Clapton. I had to talk my husband into it but he really loved it. I don't think he realized how much of our formative years we were listening to either Eric Clapton, Cream or something he did with some other band on the radio. Billy Preston played keyboards which was pretty cool, expecially since he died not too long ago. We also went to see Peter Gabriel, whom I highly recommend. He puts on a fabulous show. Interestingly, we went to see the Rolling Stones. I thought that was a pretty average show. I wouldn't pay to see them again. I would never turn down a chance to see U2. Couldn't go last time around due to just having a baby recently. It would have cost around $800 to get a good ticket though.

I saw U2 on their first US tour in 1983. I was a high school freshman at the time and didn't even know who they were. My older brother had an extra front row seat ticket for the show in New Haven. Since then I've seen U2 about eight or nine more times.

First concert, INXS. Most important "I saw an icon" concert, David Bowie in this Glass Spider tour in Tacoma, WA. Most annoying concert (to me), The Grateful Dead in Las Vegas. My most transcendent fabulous I-still-smile-when-I-think-about-them concert experiences always involve Wilco. Favorite band ever, especially in concert.

probably for me was seeing Prince 2 years ago. he was amazing in person, and he brought back memories of hearing his songs from my childhood.

First concert: Aerosmith!! Back when they had a cow with their little symbol on it on their album. Early 90s? Last concert: Nickel Creek -- these kids are so freaking talented. Seen them 3 times and haven't seen a dull show yet... Best concert ever: Radiohead - downtown chicago what like 3-5 years ago? BF surprised me by picking me up from work at lunch (arranged it all with my boss w/o me knowing!) - taking me to the train station (we live in Milwaukee) and then telling me where we were going. Outside in the middle of a park with the downtown all around us. Amazing. Thom (singer) was really into the show that night too - good stuff. I just saw U2 last time they were in town and they were pretty good - not worth the ticket price ($175!!) but pretty darn good.

I should give an honorable mention to the Blockbuster concert I saw in Dallas several years ago (7 years?)...at the Texas Motor Speedway. Counting Crows, Collective Soul, Jewel, Bush, No Doubt...several more...woulda been the best concert I've attended EXCEPT for the riot that broke out, and I got pegged in the boob with an apple someone threw. Talk about a huge bruise.   Some people can be really stupid.

This year I saw Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Billy Joel. My fav was Billy. I wasn't a huge fan of his until I saw him this year. Coming up I have Barbra and Peter Framption (Small venue) Hubby seeing Jethro Tull. My first concert was Bad Company. MANY years ago!

First concert... the Ramones. I was in middle school. My parents almost made me leave (they drove us) when they saw all the punk rockers there. But we got to stay and it was awesome - the mosh pit was a little crazy though! Best concerts - Dave Matthews and especially Ben Folds.

Yea ... tix prices have literally gone through the roof not just there in Aus but all over the place. That's the only downer about concerts these day. Big money for a ticket even if it isn't always the best seats too.

As far as I know Roger has agreed but Dave is having too much success with his new album and isn't necessarily motivated to get the group back together. [:p I caught the Police as a teen (17-18). I must have ya by a few years. We recently saw Sting here in Long Island around 2 years ago. He's still in excellent shape and his voice was right on par.
