I was positive that there was no way it would happen at the beach, but it did!!! It took us 15 hours to drive from Youngstown, OH to Surfside Beach, SC. Every time we would stop at a rest stop, my fiance (yay!) would check his pockets a few times before getting back in the car. I kept asking him what he was looking for, but when he said he just wanted to make sure he still had his wallet and phone and I was none the wiser It rained the whole way down and was still raining when we got to the beach. The rest of fi's family was already there (they all broke the trip up into 2 days) and unpacked so we unpacked instead of heading to the beach immediately since it was still raining. When it finally stopped raining, fi asked me if I wanted to take a walk on the beach. It was late afternoon and we decided to walk to the pier. We walked down and on the way back I asked him if he thought that he would ask me on the beach (not meaning during this trip since I was 100% sure it wouldn't be then) and he refused to answer! How I didn't put 2 and 2 together, I don't know, but I was still clueless. He was being really sweet on our walk, but eventually we were back at the beach house and hanging out with his family again. A few hours later he asked if I wanted to go sit in the sand with him. We went outside and I sat down in between his legs with my back against his stomach and his arms around me. He started saying really romantic things. He told me that he thinks I'm really beautiful and that he was trying to come up with a picture in his head that was as beautiful me, but he couldn't. The closest thing he could think of was the beach and then he started reaching in his pocket. He asked if I knew what he was getting, but I was still so confused! I asked if he had a picture in his pocket He opened the box, took out the ring (good thing I picked it out because at this point it was dark and I really couldn't see it) and said "Will you be my wife?" I felt like I was in a dream world! I said yes, he put it on, and we stayed sitting in the sand hugging and kissing eachother for probably a half an hour. Finally we decided that it was time to go tell his family. Fi has a very large family and they were all there filling 3 beach houses. Everyone wasn't together in one at the time, so we got to make the announcement a few times! Everyone was so excited and we got to do a toast with everyone! It was perfect! The proposal was on the beach just the two of us, but we didn't have to wait to tell anyone or show off the ring! I'm so happy and so in love! yay!!! And I got to be in the family pictures!!! We even got engagement pictures taken at the same time. Fi drove me to 4 different stores to find bridal magazines for the ride home today. How amazing is he??? (And what's wrong with SC that all stores don't have them???) I can't believe I get to marry the perfect guy!!! it's a .93 k SI2 set in white gold. The white gold looks yellow already, though, so I'm thinking about changing it to platinum... ******************************** |

These pictures really don't do it justice, but the camera's new, doesn't have a macro mode and I'm not the best photographer. Hopefully I'll be able to get some better ones tomorrow (I couldn't take too many since we didn't have a computer to save pics on at the beach). I can't wait to do flower pictures!

I've been keeping an eye out for this post! Congratulations! The ring is beautiful and I will now have to stop at Ace diamond some day. The pictures at the beach are very pretty as well. You'll have to keep me updated on your planning. I know you said it would be in pitts rather than ytown and that is the same with us:) I just got a new job and it's really crazy so hopefully I have the time to plan! Enjoy your engagement high:)

Thank you all so much! Not just for the nice comments, but for being here for me while I was going crazy with the anticipation of waiting! allikatac- your wedding is going to be in Pittsburgh too? Where's your new job at? I'm still looking (definitely need to kick that search up a notch...) I was just reading about chlorine and white gold and I'm so upset! I wore my ring in the pool. I didn't know it would hurt it! Initially I was just upset that the white gold had yellowed so quickly, but now I know it's entirely my fault and I may have damaged the integrity of the ring!  . I have to take the ring to the jeweler tomorrow because it looks like one of the prongs is sitting weird anyway, so I'll have him check it out to make sure everything is ok and clean it up, (it got soooo dirty at the beach) and maybe I'll give rhodium plating one more shot.

Robbie - I think the chlorine vs. gold thing is a cumulative problem... I doubt 1 or even 5 times in the pool would do anything dramatic, but if you wore it in the pool every day for a year, then you might have an issue. So don't feel bad. Take it to the jeweler and get it looked at, redipped even. It will be ok!!! I'm being super careful with mine, but still have to remember that it can take more than I think it can...

Awe, thanks Fisher! The pictures were taken by Myrtle Beach Photography. We were already getting a family picture and there was no additional fee to do other poses so we figured, why not just do engagement pics now?! It was so much fun!

At this point I knew what I wanted to be in it, but I wouldn't let myself believe that it was really the ring because I was so sure that it couldn't be (When did he have time to get it? How did he finish paying for it? How could he get it down here without me knowing?).
