I'm planning on having a custom setting made; center stone and two baguettes. My jeweler is tells me he uses CAD software to design the ring. I approve computer drawings. From there a wax mold is made. He then makes the platinum ring via mold. My question: Will the prongs which hold in the stone be as stronger this way? Or is it better to have a platinum setting made by hand? Thanks.

Diamondjane: It seems to me that this whole ring will be made by hand if it is being caste from a wax. If you are using a reputable jewler, you should have no problem with the prongs. LesleyH www.whiteflash.com Director of Sales at Whiteflash from 2000-2008 |
