Well I just heard back from GOG on that setting I loved in person and on my finger with the stone.  It is designed by Ajour, anyone heard of them or have any info for me?  Also, Marie says it has 12  5 pointers, but that the width of the band is 2.5mm.  Isn't that too small a band for those diamonds?  Would I have trouble finding a wb to match?  Can I just forget about finding a set that sits flush if I go with this setting?

Sorry for all the questions, I was thrown of by the whole 5 pt thing since I wasn't thinking of going over 3 pts.  I really did love the ring on my finger, I'm a size 6.75.  I guess I should email WF to help me find something.  I love Mara's ring, and after reading up on old threads i think i like the idea of the separate prongs and how they protect the diamonds when they sit flush with the band.  I'd want them to go around 3/4 of the way, not full eternity.  I'm kind of rough with my hands and I'd be afraid of crackiing or chipping the little stones on the bottom.  I also love LynnB's new set.  The fishtail pave is beautiful, but I especially love the head.

Let me know if anyway has any ideas or suggestions for me, I really need your help with this.

Thanks,

danielle

Hi Danelle,
Going custom is always an option but the ring may not look exactly the same which may or may not bother you. 5 point stones with a 2.5 width sounds right. One of the rings in lynn's old set was 5 pointers and I think it was 2.5mm too. Does the maker not make a matching wedding band?

It is good for you to consider how hard you are on your hands and getting something made like mara's could be a great idea for you. keep in mind that there is more metal and less diamond showing so the setting will look a bit different. I love Lynn b's new set and it's one of my favorites too.

I agree that the first thing you should do is to have Marie check and see if they make a matching wedding band to go with the ring you tried on and loved. You can also have custom work done through GOG.

dani...i personally think a ring like mine with 3 or 2 pointers and lynn's scoopy swoopy head would be fab if you like that separate prong look. i love lynn's ring too though! part of the fun with custom is mixing and matching though so that could be an option if you can't find EXACTLY what you want. part of what bothers me is that so many heads on shared prong rings (like the SP set etc) are just the typical V prong which i personally am not a fan of. i am such a head whore!

Thanks so much guys.  I emailed Marie to ask about the band, so that is definitely a good starting point for now.  I also want to add that the setting from GOG will run approximately $1700 in platinum.  Is the WF custom stuff generally more or less?

Mara, I was thinking the same thing, LynnB's head with your style setting -WOW!    Oh, I also wanted to ask you if you chose the 4 prong setting soley to prevent damage with the wband sitting flush or if there was another reason.  Do you think those prongs tend to make the melee look more square shaped?

Well I admit I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at this point.  So many options and factors to consider.  Who at WF should I direct my email to?  Do they need to make a wb at the same time, or do we just send them the e-ring back when the time is right?

I don't mean to butt in, but I HIGHLY recommend getting both rings made at the SAME time to be sure they perfectly match and so you don't have to go for weeks without your e-ring later!

I heard back from GOG on the setting and finally got some pics to post on here.  I hope I do this right.  First, I will attempt the setting I loved while I was there.  It has 12  5 pointers on the band and a 6 prong head.

Marie got back to me now on a set that is with 4 pointers instead, and what I would prefer anyway.  Here's a picture she sent showing the original ring next to the new set.

The only thing is this new one has 4 prongs and I prefer 6, so I'm waiting to hear back from her to see if it could be made that way.  I am getting excited!!!

I wouldn't see why they couldn't do a 6 prong head on the 4 pointer. I love the set with the 4 pointers though
