I am planning on getting married next year on Sept. 8th. I know that technically it is still summer, going by the calendar, but since it's after Labor Day doesn it have to be considered a fall wedding?

Well...I'm just wondering why you care what it's technically called? If it's for choosing colors, I think you could totally get away with either summer or fall colors depending on whatever you want! Do you have another concern regarding which season it falls under?

I'm just torn between a summer theme and a fall theme. I like both, I was just thinking that if it was considered one season or another it would help me make a decision. I have time though, just looking for ideas.

Depends what part of the country you are talking about. Here in FL, that is definitely summer.

Not to hijack your thread, but I'm wondering this myself.  I'm going to a wedding this September on the 9th and one on the 30th.  I need to get something to wear I think for the 30th which seems deifinitely like fall but would like to wear it on the 9th too.  I was wondering if the 9th is more like summer though.  Hmm, confusing.  I guess you could go either way.

We're getting married this September 17, and we're not doing any type of fall theme. Leaves don't change around here for a good month or so after that, so to me, September is still more summery than fall-like. A friend of mine is getting married Oct. 28, and she is doing a fall theme (caramel apples for favors - how cute is that?!), and that just suits much better I think!

And tehcnically, I believe fall doesn't start until 9/23 this year and next. So I think you can do whatever your little heart desires. I've never ever judged anyone on whether their wedding flowers match their season, have you?!

Our wedding is September 29th, which is considered Fall, and we're leaning towards a blue/ivory wedding. I'm not a big fan of the Fall theme (and neither is FH) so we've decided to do what we want. It'll still be warm, the leaves will not yet have fallen, and I think we'll get away with it easily.

Moral of this post: Do what you want!

~~It should be considered a summer wedding (as summer "technically" lasts until Sept. 21)....

My wedding was Sept 28th and we did a red and gold theme.  Very fall.  Even my invites had a red fall leaf on the front!!    I think of 'back to school' as fall time, whether it technically is, or not.  But I think you can go either way for the wedding.

I'm in New England, but I don't think the leaves will start changing by the 8th so I'm sure I'm safe in that respect. I don't know what to do, my reception site has very neutral colors so I can get away with almost anything. Maybe I will go with a summery theme, it should still be quite warm through the 8th. Thanks for the advice!

Check out what the weather will probably look like here:

If it will be warmish, I would not hesitate to do summer colours if that is what you prefer.  However, if you like fall colours better then go for it!  Either will work, IMO.  Out here in California I would probably do summer colours for all but November through February - even then I wouldn't hesitate to use some pinks.

I got married on 10-1-05 in New York and it was warm (in the 70's). It was technically "fall" but barely. I wore a strapless dress and was not cold at all, also wore open toed shoes. My colors were pink and brown which are in my opnion the perfect mix of fall and summer colors

I am not sure when summer officially ends.  It can be considered Indian summer, but I am not sure if that is only when it is unseaonably warm into October.  I would consider it late summer/early fall if that makes any sense.
