Hello to everyone here on the PS forums. I've been lurking here for the last 6 months just taking it all in and admiring all the gorgeous rocks. I am so thankful to have found this site, and the wealth of information it has given me. My bf and I were visiting my family on LI this past weekend and so I set up an appointment with gog to check out some stones. Let me first say that Jon is super sweet and a pleasure to work with. He spent 4 hours with us showing us all the different tools and teaching us everything about diamonds. At one point I turned around and noticed the shop was packed with people, which really says a lot to me. We found a 1.27 round stone, a real sparkler and then went on to check out some settings. I am a lover of the shared prong setting (aka Mara's ring) and tried on a few different rings and finally found one that was beautiful. Jon was still helping us out so he didn't have to specs on that particular setting. It should be emailed to us by Marie some time this week. Anyway, the diamond is on hold, and I wanted your opinions since I value them so much. It scored a 1.7 on the HCA... http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2132 -sorry I'm not sure how to post the actual image- I'd really like to thank GOG and especially Jon for taking the time and being so thorough to educate us and help us find an amazing diamond. -Danielle |

Dani, the stone looks beautiful!!! Another lovely J in platinum? My ring isn't actually 'shared prong'...it's 4 pronged melee, but the look is very similar...is that what you ended up with? Can't wait to see the finished pictures! Congrats on finding a winner! ________________________________ |

It's beautiful, Danielle! I envy you getting to go to GOG and spend a day with Jonathan and getting to see several diamonds to choose from! We'll look forward to seeing the pictures of the finished ring!

Thanks so much Mara! I'll definitely be sharing some pics on here as soon as I get them. Not a hundred percent sure if we're getting the setting through GOG yet, or what. I need to get all the info on that one I love, and to also make sure it has a band with it, or is something I can have made. I guess I'd rather avoid the whole custom route thing, especially since this one really was perfect. I don't even know who designs it yet. Glad you like the stone though, it's so beautiful in real life. It was definitely cool seeing the ideal cut next to the ordinary and the extraordinary differences between the two!

Thanks so much for the kind words. I wish you guys could get out there to see GOG for yourselves. I am sad that I moved from LI three years ago and never had a clue about the place. At least all my family is still there so I can always stop in when I'm home for a visit.
