Hey all,
I am purchasing a solitaire e-ring for my girlfriend, and have questions about the wedding band. Do most people go with a plain wedding band and then upgrade to something like an anniversary band after being married for a while?

I am asking for several reasons:

1) I am Jewish, and we have to be married in a plain band. That would either mean borrowing one for the ceremony and then having the other one for after, or just getting a plain band that matches the e-ring and upgrade years or so down the line.

2) I am spending a little more than planned on the e-ring. I would like to get a matching wedding band before we get married, but don't know if I will be able to afford more diamonds yet...

3) If I get a Tiffany style solitaire e-ring from WF, is it possible to find a matching (plain) platinum wedding band? I don't see any on the WF website, but I would like to know, before I buy the e-ring, if I can find something that looks like it goes well with the e-ring.

Your thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
David

Do you mean the regular tiffany style setting or the more expensive Tiffany reproduction setting? My brother-in-law bought the regular tiffany setting (band is rounded) at WF and he told them he wanted the matching plain band, and that was no problem. They ordered it for him. Since you have to marry with a plain band, that is the logical thing to do. A diamond band can come at the wedding or later on. It really doesn't matter.

~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~
i would get ( and keep)  a plain wedding band. I have not taken mine off in 12 years.
somehow, to me, cleaning the toilet or working in the garden is not suitable for fancy diamond studded bands.
It's also good for when in bad neighborhoods.
Hey Diamondseeker,
No, it is the regular Tiffany style setting (the rounded one). I didn't think it would be hard for WF to get a matching band, but I wanted to make sure. I will be asking them next.
Also, I wanted to see what the current trend is. While I would love to shower her with diamonds all up front, I don't think my bank account can support that right now. So, I want to make sure it wouldn't be "bad" to go with a plain (but matching) wedding band. I was talking with my Mom who said it is also nice to have a plain band when you are somewhere that you wouldn't want to wear a diamond...so that is something else to take into consideration, I guess....
Thanks for the help!
LadyKemma,
I guess we posted at the same time! And we had similar thoughts! I think you are right...I think there is something nice about a nice matching but plain band that goes nicely with the e-ring but doesn't take away from the center diamond.
I just wanted to see if others shared my thinking.....!
Thanks,
David
tying this to your other thread, then it seems I would nudge you towards the plain tiffany solitaitre setting and a plain wedding band of the same width in platinum.
classy as heck! classy classy classy!
Ladykemma...you are right! It really is a classy look! Even if she wanted a slightly wider (but matching) band, it would look really nice! The shine on the e-ring and band would be the same, and they would accent the diamond!
Even if she decided to upgrade the e-ring band down the road, the band would still be beautiful and classy!
Thanks for the advice...I think that's exactly what I wanted to hear!!
