Just heard from BBand B and they said a 1 ct Vera Wang with the micropave setting is a whopping $14,800...holy smokes. No way, not me:) They said they woudl work w/i my budget but it sure seems over priced to me especially for a 1 ct diamond. They have a couple of other deisgns like a 1 ct princess in a gold (gold only) setting that's 12,800!

I know right? No worth IMO. Pretty ring but really don't like the way the prongs pop up and have diamonds on them anyway...kind of look like tubes or something alienish. No disrespect, but not worth 14k IMO.

bigE, have you seen my post about talking to Maytal Hoftman about making you a setting with pave? It would be handmade and better than many of the cast designer settings.

~~You might want to review some of albicocca's posts, but I remember seeing that her FI was able to buy the stone separate from the setting (through Michael C. Did you ever talk to Michael C Fina about buying the setting only through them? I agree that the designer markup for VW DIAMONDS is crazy, but the setting itself was very reasonable. Also, no offense, but it is rude to post in one thread asking how you could buy my setting and then later post in a different thread insulting it. If you've decided it's not worth your money to buy the setting and stone from BB&B then by all means that's your choice, but there's no need to get nasty about it, especially when I took the time to reply to your previous questions with the information you requested on how to purchase the setting separately.

Well, Belle, he wasn't being outright insulting, but if it were me, and I was trying to help someone who wanted to buy the setting I have and love, and then he doesn't take the advice at all but insults the prongs and all that because it's too expensive for him, I'd take that offensively. That's just me, IMHO. I dunno.

Sorry albicocca, don't worry my gf still likes your ring and so do I! I was just saying it was a lot for the amount BB and B requested...but you and your bf didn't obviously pay that much and got a better ring since you added your own diamond. I didn't mean to offend you, I was just commenting on the ring as I didn't like the way the four prongs came up with diamonds on top, wasn't talking about your ring specifically...and don't worry, my gf still likes your ring and many others do too including me, just was commenting on one part of the ring I didn't prefer, that's all:)

Thank you for that, BigE. In general when people say there are things about my ring they don't like (which isn't uncommon) it doesn't bother me at all because that's just their taste. I was just shocked to see your comments in light of my trying to help you find a way to purchase the setting alone - it seemed to me that you loved the setting and appreciated my advice and then I found out not only you didn't talk to Michael C Fina (or did you?), but you don't even like it anymore? I was just surprised, I apologize if it came off too harshly.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that...guess I've been searching around so I don't know yet what I really want. I do love your ring though, it's one of a kind as are all of VW's line and believe me, my gf would love to have your ring!!!!
