Okay soo... I've been trolling some maul shops. Before you all pelt me for it-- I should say that I've been trolling any jewelry store I come accross. But here's my question. I've noticed that in some of the maul shops (especially the not high end ones) have pave halos the pave is VERY VERY fine. Micoscopic diamonds. Unlike some of the higher end pave that has some decent sized stones. And my fiance just got me an amazing 6 carat concave garnet I want to get set... and I'm considering making it into a pendant with a pave halo. But I'd want the tiny microscopic diamond chips for the halo... not the good stuff. I like the look of it better for this project (*ducks*). And well, I don't know enough about pave to know the terminology to ask for what I want. Help?

I don't know... the stuff at Kaye was very tiny. unless you looked REALLY close you couldn't really make out individual diamonds\ just blanket bling. When I was looking at the Richard Landi setting-- which had micro pave I could see the diamonds. I'm just wondering how small the micro pave stones can go. Point size and all that.

It seems like we need to explain ourselves for going in to a B & M but I remember a time before the internet, when this was our only opttion. Besides sometimes it is nice to just hold some bling instead of look at a picture! ![]() Anyway, did you ask Kay's if you could just get a mounting from them? I have asked (about the split shank endless saga) and they at least came back to me with a price (wicked high).... I think you would want very small stones, and not set side by side, it looks like there are spaces between them... i have looked at the pave rings that have a square cut gemstone... from afar, some sparkle, up close, can't see em!! Oh and by the way we need some pics of this stone!!!!

GYpsy, you might want to ask Maytal Hoftman about making that for you. It would be beautiful!

Oh DS I'd love too. But Maytal is too rich for this project's budget. It's a lovely idea though. Julie, thanks for posting that link... I'll read it carefully. As for kay's setting... the ring I liked was only 400. With the peridot in it. It may be an option. I think they have a matching pendant. Although not at the right size and shape. But your right... it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hey Gypsy, look what i found while Froogling for your setting for garnet, thought it was be interesting. Obviously a baguette halo was not a problem some time ago http://shop.vendio.com/EstateDiamondJewelry/item/631585867/?s=1154253602#. ![]() Pricescope |

Author: Gypsy As for kay's setting... the ring I liked was only 400. With the peridot in it. Gypsy! Was the peridot mounted E/W? I think my DIL has it! Last Xmas she fell in love with it at a local jewelry store, and my son bought it for her for Christmas. There was a matching pendant and earrings as well. Impulsively I bought her the earrings....then forgot to give them to her! I just dug them up and took some pictures. They're actually very lovely and delicate and sparkly, too. But you're right...the diamond (chips?) are truly teensy ...![]()
