Hi - Is DiamCalc software available for download by consumers, or is it a program for those in the trade? Could somebody please run these parameters on DiamCalc for me in the interim, please? Depth: 60.7% Table: 56% C. Angle: 34.4% C. Height: 14.6% Pav Angle: 40.8% Pav Height: 43% Culet: 0.3% Girdle: 1.4% medium Diam. 5.72mm Height: 3.47mm Thanks!

More information is available at the top of your menu. The software sells for about $300, and is an awesome program. Cutting edge technology. A DiamCalc computer simulated IdealScope image is attached. The light return analysis is top of the scale, with "very goods" across the board. Looks like a real screamer. Light Return Mono…….....Very Good 0.99 Light Return Stereo………..Very Good 0.98 (Non) Leakage Mono……....Very Good 0.98 (Non) Leakage Stereo……..Very Good 0.96 Contrast…………............Very Good 0.96 (Non) Fisheye Effect……….Very Good 1.00 ----------- IdealScope- In general, the darker pink areas indicate areas of greater light return, with the lighter pink areas indicating areas of lesser light return. The black areas indicate areas of greater contrast, with the gray areas indicating areas of lesser contrast. The white areas indicate areas of light leakage. A good explanation of the IdealScope image along with examples can be found at http://www.pricescope.com/idealscope_indx.asp Disclaimer- The facet arrangement and symmetry of the image will probably vary from your actual diamond, which may affect the light performance indicated. The computer simulation is reproduced best when the actual diamond is being viewed and the image "tweaked" to the appearance of the diamond. Hi Rich - Thank you for running DiamCalc on the stone. Looks great! Really dark pink/red under the table... what (expected) effect does this have on light return? Also, what are the yellow-orange marks on the upper girdle facets? Thanks for your input.

Yeah, you can thank the 40.8' pavilion angle for the great light return seen in the table. The orange areas in between the upper girdle break facets along with the white areas at the tip of the arrows are two areas where light leakage often occurs. The less the better, but it's pretty typical to have a certain amount. Some companies (like EightStar) have "tweaked" the minor facets to reduce this, but that is the exception rather than the norm. It's a minor aspect in the total light performance package, and I wouldn't let it kick the stone out of the running. This is a real performer. You might want to examine the examples in the IdealScope section of the image above to get familiar with what is "great" and what is "average". Rich, Independent GG Appraiser |

Anybody can download a trial version of the Diamond Calc software from http://www.cutstudy.com/octonus/english/diamcalc/index.htm but it is a limited version. You can purchase a key to unlock the full potential of the program for $280.00 from the same page.
