I did a search on google but was wondering if anyone could recommend any good sites to read about the history, etc. of diamonds.

Thanks.

I kinda like this site that I came across:
http://edwardjayepstein.com/diamond/prologue.htm

Its a lot of material but gives a good deal of insight into how things work.

Nice article you found, Billy. It seems to be an expanded version of the article that appeared in The Atlantic about twenty years ago that was discussed in the large "Investment" thread here on PS. It certainly is illuminating as concerns one perspective of the diamond industry as controlled by De Beers, and the idea of artificial scarcity. I'll be reading that one as time permits.

Another source for more generic diamond history that I found entertaining is the online exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History site, which has some nice information and a pleasant format. Summer might want to check that one out as well.

Exactly the kind of info I was asking for. I didn't get time the other day to do an extensive search and what I did find was just short articles. I knew some knowledgeable people here could help out. These sites are great. Big thanks to you both for replying.

Speaking of diamond info, anyone see that national geographic special last week, maybe Friday, on the current conflict diamond business in Sierra Leon. It was quite interesting.

Hope this helps!
