A few of us (Psers) are planning to meet in NYC on Friday... and besides ERD, Golda's, and Firenze I personally have no idea where we should/ could go.

I figured you all may have some suggestions-- we're not (as far as I know) looking for anything in particular. Just great selections of bling.  Thanks!

OH! Stores to avoid would be good too!

yeah the 'avoid' list could be more fun LOL!  I'm so jealous - I told my husband after that post from you last week that I should fly to NYC LOL

I'm so envious!!!!!!

Hmmm Madison Avenue sounds like a good street for bling:

Graff
Buccellati
Fred Leighton
Kaufman Suisse
Cartier
Stephen Russell
And more!!!

(I don't know much about Stephen Russell,  but I've heard  it's a great place to drool over fabulous estate/antique jewelry...It's on my list if I ever get to NYC...)

For all the estate jewelry lovers, I recommend:

A La Vielle Russie at 59th and 5th http://www.alvr.com/

Kentshire at Bergdorf Goodman (at 58th & 5th) http://www.kentshire.com/jewelry.asp

For all you ladies planning the bling trip,  on Fridays, MANY of the 47th jewelers close early for the Sabbath and are closed on Saturday also.    They lock up lots of the big stuff in safes, which also supplies goodies to the places that are open.   So if you ask to see something large,  the open stores will tell you it is locked up till monday.

I found this out by going on a bling trip on a Friday.

I think this seems like a bad time to go.  I'll wait until all the jewelers are open and more PSers can join in. *Sigh*  Daniel K will have to wait.

I don't have exact addresses, but on 5th Ave, around where Tiffany is located, you will find all the big name stores, such as Cartier, Van Clef and Arpel, Bulgari, etc.  De Beer's store is probably there too. On Madison Ave, besides the ones mentioned by Widget, there is Marina B and a store which carries a lot of Art Nouveau jewelry (can't remember the name).  Mimi So's main store is in 47th St area. There's another store on 47th St called Authentic Jewelry which carries a lot of original vintage pieces as well as vintage reproductions.  They have a lot of plique a jour enamel Art Nouveau pins. May not be open on Saturdays.  Have fun!

Jeez. Not open Fridays or Saturdays. This is going to be difficult to manage. Apparently Mon-Thursday is the best time to go. Hmm.
