Tonight I was having a late lunch with my 3 girlfriends.  Three of us are married with kids and the other is foot loose and fancy free.  We were talking about how hard it is to take time away for ourselves when we have all of these other committments (work, kids, husbands, car pool, sport camps, games etc...).  Anyway, I said half joikingly, "Why don't we get away for the day?  Why don't we fly to Las Vegas for the day, we can take the first flight out and the last one home."  My friend "I" said, "forget that let's go for at least two days."  So right there and then we called our husbands told them of our plan, got the thumbs up and "I" called her travel agent and booked the hotel and tickets for July 23rd - 26th!

Am I crazy?  Las Vegas in July?  I stroke out at 75 degrees, what is going to happen to me in 110 degrees?

Where are you staying?

I was supposed to go the same weekend, but I am taking my FI up to Laguna Seca (MotoGP) for a belated bday.  It WILL be hot.  The girls who invited me said they were getting a cabana by the pool, where they would get free water and some other nice perks (they have to pay for the cabana, so I don't think the water is "free".)  You may want to look into something like that if you want to lounge by the pool.  They may be staying at the Mandalay Bay.  If you are interested, I will look into it for you.

And yes, I kind of think you're crazy...IF you are planning on being out in the sun much.  We went in May and it was 95 degrees and horribly hot even then.  Do lots of indoor fun things, like going to a spa.  And of course, there are lots of fun stores to window shop for diamonds!

You will have a great time!

I know I'm crazy.  I honestly said  it in jest and it just snowballed.  I love Las Vegas, but not in July.  We are staying at Ceasars Palace for one reason only, it has everything I want.  Shopping, food, entertainment, a nice spa and pool area and a ton of other things to do inside an air conditioned venue.  We don't plan to do the Strip and will take a cab if it's more than a 5 minute walk.  I really just want to stay in one central location.

I'll be sure to pack a few pair of shoes so that I'm not caught barefoot .

We went back in the end of June, and it was SO hot.  Just stay by the pool.  You will have lots of fun.

It's crazy hot there now. 110 today!! roppongi, just try and stay indoors with A/C or by the pool. It is actually nice to walk outside on the strip for a couple minutes then go inside to the nice A/C!

It's hot. REALLY hot. But it does cool down at night, and if you stay indoors most of the time and in the pool the rest of it, it's a fun place to be. Plus, this time of year there are some fabulous deals to be had. I'd go.

oh who goes out in vegas during the day anyway!?!?!

the night is the best time to get out, and by then it's cooled off. during the day i'd just sleep in, hang by the pool, eat yummy food, gamble.

have fun!!

at least it is dry heat. That makes a huge difference! You will have a great time. I took one of those spray/fan water bottles when we went at the end of may (for by the pool) and it was wonderful. I suggest getting one!

Live in vegas and had to reply about it cooling off at night. Not in July, it's 98 right now at 9:30pm, just stay inside Ceasars in the A/C and you will have a blast!

We were just there over the July 4th weekend....we stayed by the pool, went into hotel shopping areas and laid low in the day. At night, we went out, saw shows and went downtown. Even at night, the temperature was still 85+ degrees.....so it doesn't remain hot, but with the sun down, it was much bearable.

Nothing like the blowdryer heat effect. It will be 112 this weekend with a heat advisory. Good thing about coming in July is the rates are better & it's not as busy unless there is a convention.

We went to Vegas in mid-May and it was about 100 degrees. Even though you may opt to stay indoors all day, you probably don't want to stay in the same hotel all day, so unless there is an indoor walkway between hotels, you do have to venture outside for 5-10 minutes to get to the next hotel. I thought I was going to pass out from the heat! But despite that, we still had a lot of fun. Just wear cool clothing and don't stay out in the heat for too long.

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions; I plan on spending all of my time at the Forum Shops and inside with a nice fruity / icy cocktail in my hand at all times.

I thought the rates would have been better this time of year but we paid $220 for our tickets and the room is $245 a night which seems high to me.

Bay Area GTG in a few hours, I have to get going!

I was just there at the end of june.  114 that weekend....HOOOOTTTTTTT, dry heat doesn't matter in my mind once it's that hot.  Stayed at MGM Grand, which is not very central, but was still great.  Walked in the heat all the way to The Venetian because I love the shops there so much.  HOOOOOTTTTTTT.  But I cooled off while playing single deck blackjack at Harrah's...and won some money too, so it was worth it.   Vegas is always a blast, hot or not.   Ceasars is perfect, nice and central!  Have a blast.

Depends on where you are staying. When I would go to Vegas, I would go for 10 days and stay on the strip. Market would be in June and October... so it was still wuite hot. If you are staying on the strip.. I would not worry. I literally did NOT go outside for days at a time. Every casino on the strip is like a mini city that connects with another mini city. I would walk outside after about 3 days and think to myself... "My goodness.. it is the sun" Cause inside it is never any different Night or day... its crazy awesome.
