robbie3982 Ideal Rock Total Posts: 3,940 Last Post: 11/22/2009 Member Since: 6/28/2006	My ff and I are going ring shopping with the intention of buying on Saturday and I got a little antsy and decided to take a look at some jewelry stores around here (we're looking at Jared's in Pittsburgh, but we live in OH). I was really impressed with the knowledge that the man who was helping me had. It was like talking to someone on pricescope! He was telling me about the angles and depth and table percentages of diamonds. No one at any store I've ever been in has ever brough this up! Well, I found this one diamond that I really really love. The guy even copied the GIA cert for me to take home. Can you please tell me if you think this is a good diamond? It seems like the cut is right on the edge of ideal to me. RB 6.21-6.26x3.88mm .93 ct depth... 62.2% table... 53% girdle... thin to medium culet... none polish...excellent symmetry...good clarity...SI2 (i could only see the inclusions w/ magnification) color...K (I couldn't believe it was a K! I was shocked! It looked so white to me! Guess I'm not color sensitive) flourescence...faint (perhaps this made it look whiter) comments...crown angles are greater than 35 degrees) He also showed me this AGS Ideal 0 for the same price: RB 5.94-5.97x3.61mm 0.764 ct table...57% depth...60.6% polish...ags ideal symmetry...ags ideal proportions...ags ideal color...H clarity...si2 (i also couldn't see these inclusions with my naked eye) flourescence...inert culet...very small I couldn't see much difference in the colors or the sparkliness. What do you guys think? Are these good stones? I did a price comparison on PS and it seems like this b&m's price is right. He said i could have either stone in a plain wg 4-prong setting for $2295+tax. Good luck and let us know what you guys decide! ETA: Jewelry store lighting is very deceiving, on purpose. I know I'd be happier in most lighting situations with an H, and I also think #2 sounds like a better cut stone. ~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~

The man at the store did say that we have 90 days to bring it back for any reason (even if I just see something that I like better somewhere else), so I'm kind of leaning towards the K. It is bigger, and the cut isn't that far off. For my money, if my eyes can't tell the difference in the cut, but can tell the difference in size, I'd go with the bigger one.

I left the pavillion angle the same as the other stone and put in crown angles greater than 35 since it said that's what it has in the comments. probably not the most accurate way to determine which is better...oopsies. ******************************** Baby Desmond Jacob arrived on 6/28. We'll get a much better deal now . When I told him about the stone he said ".93 carats huh? Did you look at anything smaller?" Haha. I told him that the smaller one I looked at was the same price and he seems to be warming up to the .93!
