I'm currently dealing w/ GOG in picking the right asscher cut for my engagement ring. I have about 6 diamonds right now all gettiing sarin reports so I can narrow it down to 1 or 2. after that, they'll bring them in. I have a question concerning color and clarity of asschers. How is the H color with asschers? Right now I have two 1.3ct diamonds with (H & IF) and (H & VVS1). Both with similar depth and table. similar cuts. and $100 apart. btw... these 2 diamonds fall in my budget and my desired weight. Or should I go with something with higher color rating, lower or similar clarity level, and lower weight? thanks |

Depends on your color sensitivity. I personally wouldn't go below a G color, especially for a cut like the asscher. But I'm super color sensitive, so that's the reason why. As for clarity, it also depends on how sharp your eyes are. GOG is pretty good at picking asschers, from what I've read on here, and you can always ask Jonathan to eyeball the stone for you and give you his opinion on the color, clarity etc. Everything else, I'd wait for Storm to chime in.

Personally I'd drop the clarity down to VS1 and take the color up to F-G. That's my preference. As for size... I don't think you'l be able to eek out a significant amount of size as atrade off... so I wouldn't really go for that. But VS1 clarity is great in an asscher... that's what I have and frankly I can't even see anything other than one pinpoint in mine with a loupe, even. I have an F VS1 ... and I love the whiteness and the clarity of mine. All I could ask for in that respect.

H is fine for most people unless they are very color sensitive.
