So I've started planning my wedding, which should be super fun but it's just stressful... so we're having about 130 people (rather, inviting 130, not sure how many will come, prob 120-130) which is a hard size b/c it's not large and it's not small. Most places require that you gaurentee (or pay for regardless of how many fewer people you have) 150 guests. I found one that makes you gaurentee 75, which is great, we dont overpay and the room fits up to 175 but I'm nervous that the dance floor will be too small...I do like the place, it'd give us a separate atrium adjacent to the ballroom that is all glass with a cathedral ceiling and an xmas tree (we're getting married after thanksgiving 2007) as well as the ballroom... I actually dont know what advice to ask, I'm just so frustrated with looking at places. *~SP~* |

We had around 125 people for our wedding, so I can understand your frustration! Thankfully, the reception place we ended up choosing only required a mandatory count of less than 100 people I believe. Also, just an FYI, but we invited over 170 people and ended up with 125 attending. So I wouldn't expect 120 people to come if you are inviting 130. Just keep that in mind when you are thinking about how many to invite and how many will actually come ![]() Not sure I've been any help at all, but good luck!!!!! ________________________________ |

Depending on when and where you having it... you really CAN negotiate these things down with most vendors. We had vendors telling us all sorts of things... but when it came down to it most were willing to make many allowances. I even had the place we booked with change standard contract terms and delete language that bothered me. Nothing is set in stone. Go in with that attitude-- that you are the bride, the customer, and that you will be accomodated. Make them work for your business.

I agree with Gypsy- not everything is set in stone. You can negotiate. I did find it frustrating when we were looking at places in regards to the minimums too, since we were only having 100-115 people, and most places required 150, especially on a Sat night. If they are unwilling to negotiate, then you just have to keep looking until you find a place that will. Keep in mind that if you get married on a Fri,Sun or some other off- day, they are more willing to drop down the minimums for you. It's just that Saturdays are hard, because there are only a certain # of Saturdays in one yr, so they want to sell those days for parties where they can make the most $$$...Dont worry, you will eventually find a place that will be perfect for you guys AND be accomodating for your number of guests...like I said, I so understand your frustration, we went through the same thing.... Good luck!

We invited 150 and had 117 actually come. Go with the 75 place, plus not everyone will be dancing at the same time b/c others will want to socialize etc.
