Can anyone tell me of someone who insures through CHUBB in PA or the Philadelphia area, that they have used or heard good things about. I need to get my engagement ring insured and have no other insurance to go through, and I have read a few threads on CHUBB and am very interested. I just dont see anyone who has does this in my area on any thread. Thanks!! Missie

I live just outside of Philadelphia, and I used Independent Underwriters located in Fort Washington, PA. Here's their number: 215-542-8160. I don't have homeowner's or any other insurance through them, and I was able to insure my ring. They are a Chubb agent although the name doesn't sound like they are.

Hi- we found our insurance agent (albeit in MA) directly through the Chubb website. There's a "Find An Agent" search tool you can click directly from the home page: www.chubb.com. Some people have posted about issues finding an agent who will issue them a stand-alone valuable articles policy. We did not find this to be our case, so I'm curious to hear about your experience. Good luck!

Coda, I was wondering if you had to ever go there in person to insure your ring. Or was all the insurance handled over the phone and through fax? thank you for you help!

I live in the Philadelphia area and got a quote from Chubb, but chose to go with State Farm. The rates were competitive, but I went with State Farm because I already had a personal articles policy for a pair of diamond studs. State Farm will sell you a standalone personal articles policy even if you have no other insurance through them. FYI - The quotes we got were about $330/year for a ring appraised at $24,000. The State Farm agent I used was Weldon Bliss, he's in the King of Prussia area. Very nice and easy to work with.
