Quick question: When steam cleaning a ring (e-ring with micro pave setting), I need to find a way to grip the ring so that it doesn't fall or get blasted away by the sheer pressure of the steam current. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use to hold the ring nice and tight without damaging the ring? The Jewel Jet is what I'm using and although it comes with a pair of tweezers, it doesn't seem to hold tight enough unless you hold it close to the tip, which then, might result in burnt fingers... I've thought about using a ring sizer stick, but then droplets of water might form between the inside of the ring and the stick... I guess what I'm looking for is someway to hold the ring with as minimal contact as possible, but maximum strength (w/o damaging the ring, of course). Any ideas? |

I have the Jewel Jet and I use the tweezers that came with it. I don't have a problem holding anything with it. Maybe you need to bend the tips in?

I take a small piece of paper towel and wrap it a few times around the base of the ring and use regular tweezers. I only do this because we lost the jewlers tweezers that came with the jewel jet. This probably is not the best of suggestions but it works as a temporary solution and so far I haven't scrathed the ring -Dave

Get yourself large steam tweezers for $5.00 and you won't have that issue anymore. ![]() Supplier of Jewelers supplies, tools, and equipment. |

I had the same problem with the jewel jet tweezers. I just bent them into a better shape. Now they're perfect. Sure they look sorta goofy, but they hold the ring much better.
