I have searched using Pricescope's "Independent Diamond Appraisers" search engine. But I would like to know a GOOD one, that someone had already have GOOD experience with.

Thanks!

ps. I want to let the appraiser to look at the inclusions (naturals and feathers) in this diamond:

That seems to be a pretty large natural or idented natural in the diamond plot.

Probably eye visible from the size of the it as drawn on their plot.

It did get a 0 for light performance, so I am assuming that it is not indented, but best to ask Blue Nile as they have the stone to look at.

Otherwise pick a stone that doesn't have this 'feature'. Sure it wll cost more but probably very well worth it.

I used Justin Krall and he was AWESOME.  I would recommend him highly.  Do a search for him here and you'll find more of the same.

That's exactly what I am worried about, too, Rockdoc.

I did call bluenile and had someone to look at the stone for me, they said it's hard to detect, even under 10X magnification. But I still want to have an appraiser to re-evaluate for me; that's why I opened this thread for help.

I have seen some excellent appraisers like Dave Atlas, Rich Sherwood on pricescope. But I don't think they are in NYC. Is there a place where I can find out more information on them (and other good appraisers), somewhere within PriceScope?

Thanks scarlet, I will check him out.

Btw, I used the following link to search for appraisers but I couldn't find him? How did you hear about him?

Richard Sherwood is on the west coast of Florida.

Dave Atlas is a 2 hour drive from NY in Phila.

If you're in NYC, why not consider those who are in NY.  GOG, Engagement Rings Direct, Superb Cert, and there are others who have high quality stones.  Although if you pick a seller outside NY you'll save the sales tax.

You can see the stone, without paying for it in advance, have it sent to an appraiser of your choice, and possibly have more than just one stone to compare.

With Blue Nile you'll have to pay for the stone, possibly shipping both ways if you return it, and you may be able to get a better stone with a better price right there.

I did take a look at the jewelers in NY, Rockdoc. Thank you very much for your advice!

However, 30 days return period and no tax are the two major reasons that I went with BN. :)

I actually found him doing a search for independent appraisers on the site - I posted a question (not using the list).  I believe Solange recommended him.  He is VERY professional and his prices are reasonable.

Denver is a quick 27 hour drive just across the river - a little less if you don't follow the speed limit in Kansas.

Failing that, Justin's phone number is 212-764-0471.

I used Justin Krall as well and was very happy with his services.  He is located on 47th street in the diamond district and works under the buisness name of Manhattan Appriasers.

Not sure about you guys, but why haven't I been able to get ahold of Justin Krall since almost a week ago?

I tried his work phone and cellphone (like a thousand times per day), no one answered, and I cannot even leave a voice mail.

No response for my email either...

Any recent news about Justin?

Thanks everyone.
