I am shopping for an engagement ring and have found a really nice looking EGL certified Natalie K round diamond, 1.68 cts, D color, ideal cut, SI2. The rock looked great to me ( I am a complete novice, but saw no inclusions with my naked eye) and I am just a bit concerned that its EGL and not GIA certified. Now i understand that Natalie K has all the diamonds certed by EGL, but I am just wondering if I am making the right decision. It looks like the price is in the mid to high $12K range. Does anyone have any advice?? All else constant, how much more are GIA rocks usually than EGL? How much should i be paying for the same but GIA certed? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! |

http://grading.pricescope.com/pricing.aspx The fact that you are looking at a branded stone may negate the EGL discount you'd otherwise expect.

Interesting. So maybe a GIA with the same stats is the way to go?
