My STH is catholic and I'm not, we agreed no church wedding, but I'm kinda stuck on where to get married. We've decided to get married in Connecticut (My home state) somewhere close to Groton/Mystic/New London/Norwich, but with churches out of the question, there aren't many places in the area that I know of. There's The Pavilion at Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic, and Eoli-The Mansion at Harkness Memorial Park, as well as the Rose Garden in Mohegan Park in Norwich, but I ran out of other ideas. Anyone know the area that could help me out?

They actually do weddings at Mystic Seaport. They have a few different sites that they use, both inside and outside, right on the water, and can handle weddings of different sizes. Mystic Seaport weddings. How many guests are you thinking of? If I think of other sites, I'll post them too. *** |

It's going to be a small wedding, about thirty guests are invited, a few are kids...well about ten or so will be kids (they aren't included in the guest list though they are invited-should I put them into the guest list? for food I mean?) mostly my family and closest friends and his family.

With a wedding that size, what about an Inn or B&B that can give you an all-in-one deal? I love the Griswold Inn in Essex, and I'm pretty sure they do weddings. There's a list of banquet halls and such on this link: CT weddings. The caterers will most likely want a full head count, or maybe you could ask for special rates for a kids' menu. *** |

I just did a search online at Mystic Seaport. I just remembered that my cousin got married there about five years ago. Duh me right? LOL I will check those out and thanks for the site. I didn't think that I'm a little frazzled...have some serious ES to deal with and they are annoying the heck out of us!

Woah! I am so flabbergasted...I talked to my fi and since we couldn't really find a decent place in CT to wed, we decided to stick with VA because that is now where we both live. I can't believe the places we can get married here! Most are gorgeous I don't think I can pick just one...Although he would like to find one of the war memorials and get married there, as long as the scenery is beautiful and we don't have any canons or guns in the background I am game, but it is EXPENSIVE! ALOT more than I thought! So bad that we have decided to move up our wedding. We had a date, now we're changing it. Now I have time to decide on the fifteen different places I have seen that I like.

That sounds like it might be a lot easier for you (having it in VA rather than CT.) I'm planning cross country (live in CA, wedding in MA), and it's not exactly easy. What part of VA are you looking in? I'm not too surprised that it's very expensive, especially if you're close to DC. When is your new date? *** |

Sorry it took so long to reply, been busy trying to find a new home. We haven't set a new date, we're trying to find a house to buy along with getting all the details figured out. We're not sure if it will even be within the next three years...I am severly bummed because I already found my dress online, but hadn't ordered it and can't come up with the money to get it now...knowing my luck it will be gone by the time we finally get the wedding plans up and running again. As for the location, we want outside in the summer, probably near DC cause that is where we're at now, he wants a battlefield. I told him as long as u can't see a cannon or any other war weapon in the background, that's fine by me..lol
