Channel Set Eternity Ring Question |

I am having a ring made by Dimend Scaasi that looks like the one below. It will be a super tiny channel set band, .30tcw, just 2mm wide. I saw this band in a high end custom B&M in San Francisco, and noted that there weren't the usual cleaning holes in the band. She (sales person) told me that they cleaned up just fine...cleaning solution, brush etc. Isaac said they usually do the holes for cleaning, but with this width, he is going to ask the guy on the bench what he recommends, because it may decrease the strength of the ring. But my question...at 2mm, this band is SUPER tiny. Would holes even help me? He mentioned that they help with professional cleaning...so I guess he means ultrasonic. Any thoughts out there? Any experiences with eternity bands channel or bead set with no perforations behind the stones?

If Mara reads this.... I just saw your post about your toerings. They look very similar to what I'm having made.... Do those slits actually help the cleaning? Could your ultrasound work without them? Just trying to figure out which way to go with this new project...

Hee hee! I'm around & would offer an opinion -- only I HAVE NO IDEA! Don't feel badly though ... I have like four open threads currently & nary a peep from anyone. Either it's slow -- or I'm mega-hated! ![]() ![]() ETA: I love the look of that teensy band though ... I tried on a similarly thin bead-set model over the weekend and it was my 2nd choice for wedding band ... still in the running! The white gold model was $950ish - no idea re: platinum right now. Don't think the beadset band had holes in the back - but I'm not sure...

Hiya lady! I know I know, a specific question. But thought I'd see if anyone had any thoughts. I've been laughing for days to myself over your post from long ago I read in explaining your username. I've always giggled to myself when people call you "decoded" thinking about how confused those gals must be, "WHY would someone pick the username Decoded Lighted?" But yes, that interpretation is very Nancy Drew ![]() ![]()

Hi Wallermamma, I have two channel set bands that are 2mm, WG and .25 ctw each and have no holes. I've had them for several months and have not had a problem cleaning them either with my ultrasonic or a toothbrush. Michelle |
