I've read some onfo on fake moissanite diamonds. Should I really be concerned about this if it comes with a GIA cert? Also, do most appraisers have the knowledge and equip to test?

If it comes with an authentic GIA cert, it ain't moissanite, it's a diamond. Synthetic moissanite is easily distinguished from diamond because it is doubly refractive, whereas diamond is singly refractive. If you look through the crown facets of moissanite you see a double image of the facet edges of the pavilion facets. Lots of moissanite is not colorless, but has a yellowish or greenish cast to it.
