Hello Everyone,

I've been doinng lots of research into an e-ring for my girlfriend and I can't really find what I'm looking for. I've gotten lots of great feedback on this site so thanks for that! There's almost TOO MUCH info here!

So anyway, my girlfriend has very thin and long fingers. Her finger is a size 3.5 so this ring will need to be small. She likes the look of diamonds on the band and so do I. Also, I'm looking to get about a 1/2 carat diamond for the main stone to keep the price reasonable and since she said she doesn't want a big ol' huge diamond on her tiny finger. Is it reasonable to get a really thin channel set band with a .5 carat diamond? Maybe 2mm wide band?

The picture below, of Mara's toe ring, seems nice and dainty but could it handle a solitaire mounted onto it? Would a .5 carat looks small? I definitely don't want the little diamonds to take away from the solitaire too much.

The second picture is from blue nile and also contains a setting that my girlfriend likes. According to BN and the reviews the band is very thin (2mm) but looks thick to me. The setting doesn't neccessarily have to be an eternity and could be a partial.

Mara's toe rings (If I were a girl I'd definitely have these made for me as well!)

BlueNile setting.

Any pics out there of a thin band with stones and about a .5 carat solitaire? We're not really into the "exposed" diamonds like the pave, etc. rings we've seen, so really interested in the channel set.

Thanks!! Hopefully, that was clear enough. Also, I'm open to going the custom route so that's always an option.

Hi jimbob9999 and welcome

I'm sure you can get pretty close to finding exactly what you are looking for. I don't know how thin they will make channel set bands though. The bands I've seen that are 2mm are normally a combo of channel set stones but then also have the beads inbetween like this Ritani which is just under 2mm.

If you like Mara's toerings, I'd call WF and ask them about making something similar for an e-ring. I think it would really pretty with a .5 center stone.

Here is a pretty channel set setting but I think it is about 3mm wide.

Thanks for the replies so far! Those are some nice rings. As I think about this more I think the eternity setting just may not be practical so I'm kind of leaning toward something like the BlueNile setting. I will probably write to WF and see what they think about making something that's a combination between the two. I like the daintiness of Mara's rings but the Blue Nile style. As it stands the Blue Nile setting looks kind of chunky and I'd like something more "flowie."

Have you looked at the Facets website at the flush fit channel set rings they have?  I don't know how wide they are, but they have a nice flow.  It kind of looks like the head is just set onto bands like Mara's, but they aren't eternity.  Just a thought.

My ring is channel set at 2mm (which gives you about .26tcw on the side stones). The center stone is bigger than what you are looking for, but it can definitely be done.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some settings tend to look more thick/heavy/chunky in pictures than they do in person. There is very little metal on either side of the stones, but a blown up picture makes it look heavy.

I'll take a look at Facets to see what they have there. Thanks for the suggestion.

WestsideLisa, WOW! I really like that ring. I think something like that would be perfect and I think a smaller stone would still look realy nice in it. It seems that Mark is too busy to even take orders right now so not sure if that'll be an option. Thanks!

Edit: I've also found some Precision Set settings which seem to fit the bill but can't find any other info on them. Where can I see pictures of all the styles as well as widths and some prices?

I looked on their web site but all I see are nice pretty pictures with no other info available. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Hi!  I'm just wondering, has your GF tried on a 2mm band?  I have small hands and small-ish finger and I thought I didn't want anything bigger than 2mm, but it's actually a lot thinner than you may realize.  You might have more options if you let yourself go a little bit bigger... 2.5mm or so.

I actually saw Mara's toe rings in person last week, and they are teeny teeny tiny and dainty!  It doesn't really come across in the pics.

ETA: Definitely talk to WF.  I personally think an eternity channel set with a stuller head would look fantastic.  I prefer lower settings (the BN one looks kinda high), but that's a matter of personal preference.

Good luck on your search and keep us posted!

Actually the only one she sorta tried on was similar to that blue nile setting I had displayed above. And that was just at some mall jewelry store and the ring was way to big so we couldn't really see what it looked like. So a 2.5 mm could actually be fine but I'm just not sure what they all look like. I wanted my girlfriend to look at some styles but I'm still trying to suprise her so we just kinda peeked in the mall store to see what they had. She has long slender fingers to maybe I should look into the 2.5 mm range. I just don't want something so thick that the center stone doesn't really stick out but I also don't want something that's too small and too easy to damage.

Too many choices!

Just a quick follow up. I was able to track down the ring my girlfriend tried on at the mall jewelery store and it was a 3mm band. When I asked my gf about the width of the band she said she didn't think it looked too big. So I guess that settles that right there. I guess I was worried for no big reason. See what you ladies do to us!

So looks like I have some wiggle room at least! Looks like I'll be working on some ideas with DiamondBob so I'll keep you updated.
