What is it about diamonds that you love? Why are you drawn to them, what in them is important to you?

Is the romance, the sparkliness, the whiteness, the color, the clearness, the expense, rarity, the durability, other symbolism? There must be so many answers! I'm just curious why you love diamonds!

From when I was little I loved the sparkle.  I love that they are special, but think now in reality the rarity factor is controlled stictly by the diamond industry.  No matter, I still love the fire and twinkles from them.  (I also love a lot of other colored stones as well, some precious and some semi precious) but diamonds hold the most allure...I love that a chunk of carbon becomes this...too incredible to me.

Aside from their beauty, I like diamonds because I think it can represent an individual.  If you can choose one diamond to represent you for life, what kind of stone would it be?  Which Cs would you give up in order to have something else of what you want?

I find them mesmerizing. Put me under a tree with the sunlight gently filtering through the leaves, and I could look at my diamond until I starve to death!!!!

And THAT'S my story and I'm sticking to it!

I never used to like them!!! I thought they were silly and ridiculously over-priced and meh. Then WHAMMO - whispers about engagement and I became a crazed bling-hound.

The only thing that USED to appeal to me about them was the "clear" quality vs. color that made them mix/matchable with any attire. I get upset by too many colors or patterns in an outfit.(Moi, psycho? Yes I am!) So I like to stick with solids or white/black/jeans.

I will confess that the first time I saw an Asscher (pre-engagement-whispers), diamonds made a blip on my radar too. I'd never seen anything so spellbinding & hypnotic. I couldn't understand why ALL diamonds weren't cut that way!! (Now I do - as my appreciation of BLING has grown exponentially since discovering P-scope in my Asscher hunt, and being helplessly sucked into it's VORTEX.)

Now - it's a joke in our house -- we have have to rewind the Tivo for action movie trailers (him) and diamond commercials (guess who!!)

Love the sparkle - it's unparalleled.  I could (and have) sit there all day and stare as well.  But I'd have a great big pile of chocolate next to me too.

I too was one of those people who couldn't give a patooty in general about diamonds before getting engaged.  Well, not entirely, but not till my late 20s did I give a hoot.  I wanted one as a present for getting my PhD (that over a briefcase?  yes please!!) but my parents didn't quite have the specs thing down, so what I got was decent but not amazing and that kinda staved off my interest for awhile.  Then talk of engagement and I was hooked again.  Got my ring, then found PS later when I became bored of looking at all my jewelry catalogs for the umpteenth time.

I love how diamonds sparkle, glitter, and dance and seem to be in constant motion. It's like an alive thing attached to my hand. I'm fond of describing my diamond as a portal to another world...when you gaze at it, it just looks like it has more than 3 dimensions...like you could step into it and end up in another place altogether. I know my response seems very fantastical, but that's how I see diamonds. They are otherworldly, especially in the right lighting.

You can wear the world's most luxurious and opulent designer dress and look incredible, but aside from some accessorizing or change in hairstyle, you'll generally look the same every time you wear it. However, put on a diamond and it looks different from moment to moment, room to room, house to outdoors, office to park, restaurant to movie theater. It could be icy white, a rainbow of sparkles, shooting fireballs, glittering like a disco ball.....I love ALL those looks!!!!

I love the fire, their brilliance  and how my stone throws off so many different colors.  I love the way my asscher takes me inside of it, it's intriguing....  Everyday they give me a thrill.  I am captivated by them, and appreciate their beauty more and more each day.

Heehee! Ivana, I like that response I love everyone's reasons! For me, it is also the personality in each one. I was also one of the people who had no interest in diamonds until about a year ago when we got really serious about engagement. But learning about diamonds and all the measurements and angles here on PS has made diamonds so fantastical to me!

I have always been into jewelry since I was a little girl playing with my mom's baubles!

I love diamonds because they look so pure and dazzling white.  They are like Mother Nature's secret treasures.  Whenever I get stressed out or bored, I just look at my diamonds.  They make any outfit look extraordinary, no matter what I'm wearing.

The beauty reminds me of how much I am loved and of the proposal.  It gives me goosebumps to imagine my guy doing all the research, looking at dozens of diamonds until he found the perfect one for me.  It's his heart and he slipped it on my finger so I can look at it all day long.  It's so beautiful and it makes me feel glorious!

There is nothing like looking down at a diamond giving off unbelievable fire.  Never fails.  It's like looking at purity and hope.

(Sorry I'm gushing!!!)

I find every diamond interesting....I especially like seeing an unusual inclusion...possibly a shape, color or size that I've never seen before.

I also find alot of beauty in Old Mine and Old European Cut diamonds.

Hey, what's not to like about a diamond?

My reasons are boring, and I know it. But here are the top three.

One I love diamonds because they come in so many colors!!!! Two, the way they reflect light is mezmerizing. Three, white diamonds match everything (same reason I have white plates, kitchenware...).

I like diamonds because my favorite color is sparkle! LOL! When I was little I LOVED rainbows and anything that had prisms, sparkles, glitter, sequins, rhinestones, crystals, etc, and still do. So diamonds are perfect because they fit into all of those! They also make me feel luxurious and I love pampering myself with all things luxurious!

My favorite color is sparkle!!!

Well when I was a pre-teen I thought diamonds were a stupid status symbol or something and thought I definitely didn't want one in my wedding ring because thats what everyone gets. I wanted to be unique and design my own precious stone ring. PHAH! It wasn't until myt mom showed me some back in January and I was like, WHOA those are gorgeous! Then PS came along and um, I am hooked!

I love them for their mesmerizing sparkle, and they makes you feel beautiful all over, its like a little fan club on your finger (or ears, neck, etc) that never stops clapping and showering you with love!

Well, I love the sparkle but I think my love of diamonds and all things sparkly started at my grandmother's house. I used to spend a lot of time playing with her jewelry and she had the most beautiful rhinestone necklaces that I used to love to play dressup with. She also wore several diamond rings on both hands - I later found out that my grandfather had won some of them in poker games. None were very big, but to my grandmother who grew up in the depression, they were quite the collection. I still remember how they all clinked together all the time when she moved her hands. To me, she was glamorous and dyed her hair red and had the most beautiful green eyes you have ever seen.
I would give anything if I could show her my diamond collection now. She did get to see my pave ring that we got on our honeymoon and she thought it was unbelievable.

Why am I drawn to them?

I have to give credit to my parents.  When I was a baby, I had a diamond ring shaped rattle.  Yes, the band was a lovely shade of pink plastic. The stone was a lovely round brilliant of clear plastic, with little shapes inside that sparkled when I shook it.  It was the biggest diamond I've ever seen.

It was ingrained in me early in life.

kidding aside (though they are purty)...why do i love diamonds. well they have intrigue, allure, mystery. they have a chameleon cloak on at all times, a diamond is a poster child for multiple personalities. i love the preciseness of the cut, the way that the alignment has to be just so to create the right amount of sparkle and life in the diamond, the way that an asscher is cut to draw your eye into the pool of beauty til you feel yourself just falling forward. analytics of the numbers, definitely, how a small change can create a whole different look or personality in the stone. they are fascinating, mesmerizing, every visual orgasmic adjective you could think of to describe them. crystal clear, light glancing off the facets, bursts of fire and flashes of color. it's all good. virtual smorgasboard of visual delight.
