Hi guys... so I saw a Knottie bio of a bride in my wedding dress.. and she had a great necklace that looked very nice with the low v back of the dress...![]() I would like something that goes down lower in the back than her necklace... and I don't what to do about the front.... it's also a low-ish v. It is #3 in this thread. I don't want to distract from the pretty neckline of the dress so I'm thinking something really delicate or simple... like maybe just small crystal beads all the way around... or small beads with three bigger crystal beads in the middle? Or a silver chain with a few crystal beads in the middle? Or do you think a Y-front would be best because of the v-neck... I'm worried that that might be too MUCH... Would it be weird to have a Y in the front AND a Y in the back? If it's simple I could maybe make it myself... otherwise I'm looking at having it made by http://kiwijewels.com/jewelry_gift_sets.htm Or do you think I just shouldn't wear a necklace at all? I won't be wearing a veil during the reception (just the ceremony)... so even if I don't wear the necklace in the actual ceremony I think I might like to have it to put on during the reception. Maybe. ![]() Thanks!! ![]() |

what does the front look like? what is your veil like and how will you wear your hair? for me to weigh in I think it helps to know! But, overall, something just down the back, so when your veil comes off later (if it will) is interesting and different. I would not do front and back. Also, it would depend on what type of earrings you want to wear. I love no necklace and gorgeous dangly earrings, or more subtle earrings and the necklace going down the back. I know honora made a long strand with silver chain and pearls, you could wear it any way you wanted (knotted, wrapped once around, etc) that idea might work... **************************** |

Lizzie, They're called lariats, in case that makes searching easier. Here are a few I found that look like the necklace in the picture you posted: Crystal Bridal Lariat Anna Bridal Lariat Liv Crystal Lariat Kaema Wedding Lariat (best deal, IMO!) If you went with a lariat, I'd suggest very simple earrings...I like the small drops in the picture.

Thanks for the quick replies! Attached is the dress and the veil I'll be wearing is the same length and style but it has some kind of accents on the edges but not those crystals... I don't really remember what it looks like! I'll be wearing my hair in a low chignon (most likely) with the veil over the chignon but still low-ish on my head. Ebree- Thanks for those links! Yeah... those are def. the right idea! I think I like the Liv best... maybe?

As long as it will show with your chignon, I think either the plain (more close to the throat) front is gorgeous. Keep the interest to the back, that is the focal, and you can either wear it during ceremony and then have it be more visible after, or put it on after you remove the veil...I love that it gives interest to the back view. Are you doing flowers in the chignon? Or wearing a tiara type thing to hold your veil in place?

I think I'll be doing a tiara type comb thing... but I haven't looked for that yet either! Thanks bunches for your help!

I was going to suggest having it made. I think the one the Knottie's wearing would be a very complimentary style with your dress. I think you could go without too, your dress isn't screaming for an accessory there, but I think it would look great with that style (especially when you take the veil off at the ceremony and it will be more visible down your back).

I think that would look beautiful with your dress! I like the small drop in the front, I think it balances out the design a little better. I've made similar necklaces and although they're not hard to do, it's time consuming if you want crystals chained together all the way around. Having a few stations between lengths of chain could be made in no time though. And for a WHOLE lot cheaper, the materials would only cost 20-30 dollars, depending on the size and number of crystals used. Actually, now I'm quite smitten with the style and I think I might make one this weekend.

Your dress is lovely! It is exactly what I was trying to find but never could (at least in my price range). May I ask what designer/style the dress is? You look great in it! Oh, and I think the "back necklace" is lovely and very unique. Go for it. |

Antigua- I don't know if I should tell you.... you already have 4 dresses! J/K, it's Watters 2039B. I don't think it's quite the price range you were looking for... but you might be able to find it on consignment... lucky girl!I guess I prob. just need to try different necklaces on (to determine what would look best in the front view) once I actually get the dress in... Hopefully tomorrow or sometime next week! Still would love to hear other people's opinions! Thanks y'all!!!

I really like the one with the one crystal drop in the front too. I agree with whoever said it just kind of balances out the look somehow. I think any of them will look gorgeous though, and love the idea!!!! And I just went and looked back at your dress thread and was reminded of how much I love that dress too! Can't wait to see pics of you trying on necklaces (since you knowwwwww you're going to have to post them here, right?? )

Cool, I really like this one! I'm having a lariat, too and I found some amazing ones on this site: www.hautebride.com I am thinking tons of pearl strands for me. Kind of rocker but I like it =) We'll see. I am going to check out their retail store in San Francisco next weekend when we go up for our engagement party.
