I was wondering what carat size that would equate to in the jubilee cut, queen of hearts, radiant and princess. also--which of those is cut the most shallow? I know there is a waitlist for the jubilee cut, how far out is it for (like 6 months)? Can you recommend any other square shallow cut stones? Also is there a pic somewhere comparing all 4 cuts of the same carat weight? The only cut I've seen in person is the princess. Are all of them GIA recognized, if I go through a reputable buyer should I expect a cert for it? Also--what order is the price per carat of the ones listed above--is the jubilee the most expensive? Thanks!

At the current moment Jubilee and Queen of Hearts are discontinued however I'm in the process of talking with the manufacturer about having Jubilee's cut at a new factory. More on that as I find out. In the square radiant and princess dept. at 6mm side to side measurements you're looking at stones around the 1.2xct size range and that would also include the Square H&A's as well which have optics akin to the Jubilee. also--which of those is cut the most shallow? Each of the above available shapes are similar. The Queen of Hearts was perhaps the most spreadiest stone of the squares. Many radiants are also cut very shallow but have a watery appearance. I know there is a waitlist for the jubilee cut, how far out is it for (like 6 months)? Actually no waiting list at all since they're currently not available. Once they are we will announce it on our site. If the Jubilee does interest you though you may want to take a closer look at the Square H&A's. Also is there a pic somewhere comparing all 4 cuts of the same carat weight? I'd have to dig in the archives. I know we have individual shots, but not sure if all 4 side by side. The only cut I've seen in person is the princess. Are all of them GIA recognized, if I go through a reputable buyer should I expect a cert for it? You should expect a lab report with it. While we do feature both GIA graded and AGS graded stones, all of them are tested for light performance. When shopping for a GIA graded princess cut, since GIA does not yet grade cut quality on a princess cut extra analysis for light performance should be sought. On AGS graded stones, even if they don't get the overall ideal grade, ideal "0" light performance should be a minimum. Hope this helps and hope to be of further help. The jubilee isn't that shallow... and squares are not known for that. I am not sure what miracle it takes to make shallower cut princess cuts nice. Radiant or cushion come to mind, although it may be quite some search for a spready square one. Btw - low depth may not mean particularly large looks (you might be surprised to what extent!) - look at the diameter instead. my 2c ... as far as I know. Btw. comparing generic pictures may not help - for any shape, the proportions of the cut beyond total depth play with size quite a bit. However, between several hundred diamonds of similar weight for each shape considered, I would be surprised if no hint of what constitutes good, bad and average size for weight would not emerge. It takes a couple of minutes And for that sort of exercise, color and clarity don't matter at all - the more examples, the better. You wouldn't know what those diamonds look like, of course... but as long as depth doesn't go allot under 60%... there's still some chance you wouldn't run at the sight (IMO), and not knowing what they look like, may not mean just bad, bad and more bad news. Just no news. The AGA cut charts (see www.gemappraisers.com) should help with this 'sport' The top grades there also take good spread into account, and surely other considerations too. Rhino--I was looking at the square H&A, but it looked a little rounded, how does it look if it's set in a 4 prong? More square? Also there are no prices listed on the GOG site (are they ranked correctly in order of price)?. What would be the ballpark for the 1.2ct that you mentioned would be 6 X 6, color is very important to me, so I was hoping D-no less than G, and as long as it's eyeclean I'm okay with the clarity, as long as the cut is good, which it is supposed to be since it's a H&A, right?? How long before I purchase should I start viewing stones? I don't want to find one I love right now, because this is something hubby and I are planning on doing in 2 years or so (and we're trying to budget accordingly), I'm trying to get a feel for the prices now so we can save accordingly. I'm probably looking way too early. I'm just super excited What's a good time to start looking? I know it takes some jewelers time to get stones in. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody has mistaken my stone for anything but a square stone if that makes you feel better. The stone is BEAUTIFUL, sparkles like crazy & I truly love it. I was fortunate enough to find a cushion that I loved that fit the specs. The ring is not done yet, but should be in a couple of weeks and I will post pics when it's done. You can see the diamond here. It wasn't exactly 6x6, but close, and should fit into the setting I was looking at just fine. The depth is 3.82. I know some people are sensitive to mentioning price here, but I am happy to give you a general idea of what we paid for it. It was right around the 5K mark for those specs, and it is F color. I did see some other nice possibilities for cheaper...an ex/ex cushion that was G (or maybe H) SI1 for about 3800 or so, but I never had it called in. Cushions can be hit or miss, I've heard, and it can take patience to find one that works for you. And maybe because of the type of cut it is, it may not look as square as some others. But I think the setting makes a big difference. BTW, the $3800 one I am talking about was slightly over a carat, to give you an idea of the range of prices. I'm also looking at cushions for my mom. Cushion hunting really takes patience...so many variables, it seems. But I think you'll know when one speaks to you!
