Hi folks, I need to point my boyfriend in the right direction for a 3-stone mounting that will fit the following round, brilliant stones: 2 carat center stone .45 carat side stone diamonds (2) I read about laney's unfortunate experience with her 2 carat stone getting chipped in a really bad way. I really want to avoid this. Does anyone have any recommendations in the form of links or model numbers for a 6-prong setting that will guard the center stone more effectively than a 4-prong? I had my eye on a Stuller (or something similar) in white gold (similar to this one: http://www.stuller.com/public/product.aspx?prodGrpID=81057eb7-c760-4524-af8c-7d741d37050e&categoryID=5043212d-d99f-4ea7-ab94-50fb0a177bb4) Would I encounter a similar situation to laney if I got the 4-prong setting with the 3-stone? Please advise. |

Laney's situation was a very rare accident. I do not think it has anything to do with the setting or how the stone was set. she actually replaced that stone with a much larger one and put it back in the same setting. Kaleigh has a 2.36 round with pear sides in a 4 prong setting and she's never had a problem. I'd go with what you like and make sure you have insurance
