I would like to say thanks to all who replied to my other post in which I humbly sought all your opinions. I continued my search based on all your input. Here is another one I am looking at and your comments would really help me. Thanks! Any adivce on what I should I should be looking in an SI1 regarding inclusions would also be nice as this is for an engagement ring. I have no clue what is acceptable when it comes to inclusions.

Seems like there are a lot more inclusions than I would have expected for an SI1, but as long as it's eye clean, that would be good enough for me. As far as the rest of the specs are concerned, looks quite nice. _________________________________ |

It's not so much the number of inclusions that determine the clarity of a diamond, but the visibility of those inclusions. A stone with only one inclusion, but one that is prevalent, may be an SI1 or SI2 while another stone whose plot looks a mess may be the same grade. Plots are exactly what they are - they're simply a map to find the inclusions, they don't show how visible the inclusions may or may not be. When I purchased my diamond, I went to see 2 diamonds. Both were SI2. One stone had one inclusion listed as a crystal on the plot. The other had multiple feathers. I took one glance at the first stone and immediately found the black crystal. I didn't find the inclusions on the other stone until viewing it at 30x and then I could find them with the loupe, but never did find them with the naked eye. Guess which one I bought? As for the types of inclusions to look for in an SI? Really, anything other than black crystals. Feathers are the toughest for me to find. Some clouds are safe. White crystals can be tough to find if their off the table. The location of the inclusion also plays a big role. Most importantly, look at the diamond or if buying online, buy from a vendor you trust to inspect the stone. Some SIs are eyeclean and some aren't. Good luck!
