For months I've been racking my brain, reading the suggestions in magazines...I just don't know. I think a lot of songs I haven't heard. Isn't there a place on the web I can go and hear snips of songs? FI wants a foxtrot. A FOXTROT!?!?!?! My god! Is he TRYING to make me mental??? I love the song "Soul Meets Body" by Deathcab for Cutie. I wonder if we can do a foxtrot to that? Ha!

Itunes music store? I don't think you need an account, but if you do, it's free. You can listen to a 20-30 second sample of anything in their library. *** |

I don't know if this is your taste at all (wasn't mine, but hubby chose it and it turned out to be fabulous) but our "grand entrance" song was "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones. It gave a contemporary, fun feel to our very elegant, but low-key Sunday afternoon wedding. It was actually a nice contrast and made our guests feel a little less "stuffy," lol!

Ha! FI thinks we can do a foxtrot to Etta James version of "At Last"! So while we were going through songs on the web we found dozens of versions of "At Last". There is a super upbeat dancy version of it by Stevie Wonder. It doesn't sound anything like the Etta James version, so we might do the grand entrance to the Stevie Wonder version and the go right into the Etta James version for our first dance. My gosh, was I stressed out last week? I can hardly remember that, b/c now I'm just excited!!

Well I don't think you can ever go wrong with Stevie- I love the song At last. I think "It had to be you" might work well for a foxtrot or even "the way you look tonight"? There are tons of versions of both these songs too, from Frank Sinatra, Steve Tyrell, Harry Connick, and I am sure many more.We went straight from our grand entrance into our first dance and it was, Your Love is King, by Sade. Actually right afterwards though, we had our second song, which was and is for some reason my favorite song, Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing", anyway, we got everyone dancing from minute one, it was so great, i think they played 2 other songs too and it just set the tone for the night; you were gonna dance and have fun. I know Sexy Thing sounds strange, but the words are so great and no one could resist shaking their booty :)

Sade is one of the artists that we both love so we will look at that and I think it might have a better foxtrot beat than Etta's 'At Last'. I also love Sade's song that goes "This is no ordinary love". I might steal your Sexy THing idea for a second song. But when did you serve dinner? How did that get pulled off, logistically? Thanks!! YEEEEOOOOOOOOWWWW!!! I'm so excited!!

I am so excited for you! It worked out perfectly, because as everyone was dancing, the waiters set the salads for all the guests. everyone came back from dancing to starting their first course, and my dad gave his toast at that point. And then the best man and maid of honor thru dinner. Then we all hit the dance floor again. But everyone kept commenting that it set the tone for the night, and got everyone in party mode right away. I love, This is no ordinary Love, too!!!

our entrance music was "let's get this party started" by black eyed peas, and we also went straight to the first dance , which was a los lonely boys song. but if you want foxtrot I love "The way you look tonight" - I did that for the father-daughter dance. ![]() The way we did the first dance right after the entrance was the same as ivanadiamond - we were there for cocktail hour but after that they had everyone seated and then we did the entrance and first dance right away when ppl were being served salads.

My FI wants to waltz or something. With our first dance song, which is by Lifehouse, that would look so ridiculous.

Date: 4/22/2006 2:28:43 PM Actually, I was thinking this song would be perfect right before I walk down the aisle! It'll kinda be like my FI is singing it to me as I come meet him to seal the deal!Author: Diamonds are Hot!
