Hi guys, I've been so busy lately that I really haven't had the chance to post pics of my diamond! I was up a little late last night, and I had my gf's camera, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to take some pics of the stone. Her camera is a Digital SLR, and she doesn't have a macro lens yet, so I couldn't take a good picture of the darn thing!!! The camera was far too big and I couldn't focus on the stone when it was close to the lens...if anyone has advice on how I could take better pics of it, I'd appreciate it! But I DID get some OK pics through the WF H&A viewer...I cropped the image and resized it... Anyway, here she is... She's .807 carats, ACA, and I'm totally in love with this stone...I can't wait to have it set! Thank you guys soooooooo much for helping me pick out this stone! Let me know what you think? And advice on getting good close-up pics too please! Maybe if I used a not-so-complex camera? Unfortunately I don't have one....

Casper? ha ha ha I'm getting a custom setting done by a local jeweler, so I'll have the wax pics in a week or so! And if I can get some better pics of the actual stone, I'll do that too! _________________________________ |

Thanks guys! I'm glad you liked it! You guys were involved in my ring process too! I was talking w/ my local jeweler and asked him if he minded if I took pics of the wax, and he said I could totally do it. It should be ready later next week. I'll post pics then! I'm planning on making a little album that involved the whole process and show it to her, from start to finish...you guys think that's tacky??? I thought it might be kinda cool. Let me know what you think! I'm gonna take a dinky lil camera and try to take some pics of the stone outside of the viewer...wish me luck! _________________________________ |

I thought it might be kinda cool. Let me know what you think! ! Tacky...no. But I wouldn't waste my time myself. Depends on the lady I guess. I have a stack of paperwork probably a half-inch thick on the stone I bought. I can all but guarantee she'll spend less than 5 minutes looking at it.

I've used a digital SLR without a macro lens before. It depends on the lens but if you're using a zoom lens with a maximum of 70mm like I did then zoom in as far as you can and turn off the auto focus. Now turn the focus dial completely to the left or right (it'll become fairly obvious which way is the right way when you look through the viewfinder) and move back and forth with the camera until the stone comes into focus - you should be roughly a foot or two from the stone by now. Once the stone appears in focus stay in that spot and put the camera in sport or burst mode then snap away. As you snap, move back and forth within a few millimetres. This way you'll end up with ten or twenty photos of which will vary from soft to pin sharp. Obviously ditch the soft ones and post the keepers on here. Although the stone will be fairly small in the original photo, by cropping you should get a very good web sized close up. Hope that helps. Good luck
