Oh WOW, SDL, I just love your jewelry!!  To me there's nothing like the mix of diamonds and sapphires together. They are all just gorgeous and look great on you.

SDL,

I LOVE them.  Boy do you ever have gooood taste.  I don't think I ever saw your engagement ring.  What a beautiful ring.  What are the specs on it.

Are you getting married near La Jolla?  My hubby and I love it there.  It is our favorite place to visit.  My aunt and uncle live in a retirement area at Lake San Marcos and when we visit them, we always make a trip to La Jolla.

Linda,

Thanks! I appreciate that  I have a post under the bride’s postings.. it has all my very cool information on our wedding.. La Jolla is my favorite place to go and really was my first choice but the Bridge Club wasn’t available for the reception.

I love La Jolla.. I love to watch the seals, and their pups and the occasional cute sea lion and walk the shops, of course. Its just beautiful. Sometimes you can see the surfers out on their boards and dolphins will be following them. Its very cool to watch.

I forgot the specs on my ring.. It’s a 1.51 G SI2 clarity enhanced (gag, if we only knew then what we know now!!), the sapphires are 1.06ct each, and I have two secret diamonds set in under the diamond on either side.. the setting is a custom 18k white gold.

I think that the posting for the creation of my ring is called SanDiegoLady’s Sapphire Stunner.. or something like that. LOL

Anyway.. I WILL upgrade the center stone to one that isn’t enhanced (my jeweler made it to fit a 2ct center stone) hehehe….

I love my ring.. I love that its custom for me and that we incorporated my FI’s sapphire birthstone into it.. it makes it that much more special.

Michelle,

It sure is special.   Your ring is beautiful.  My bday is September 9th and my daughter's is Sept. 18th, when is your FI?

OK I am a moron here, what is clarity enhanced mean?  I have never heard of that one before.

I would love to see the dolphins follow the surfers.  How cool is that.  Dolphins, I heard, love humans.

My aunt and uncle want us to come and visit them this year, they were up here last month, so we may make the trip.  We live in Fairfield.  We are iin between San Francisco and Sacramento.

Maybe if we come down there, we can meet for lunch?  We love San Diego too.  We spent hours walking in the shops and just sitting and looing at the sites.  It made us want to move down there.  HA!.

Clarity enhanced diamonds are fracture filled, they laser a tiny hole and fill it with oh, something, I'm not even sure what.. and it gives the appearance that the diamond is more clear than it is.. it’s supposed to be permanent... but.. we'll see.. I wont have this diamond long enough to find out I hope.. The jeweler we bought it from really pushed this kind of diamond versus a natural diamond.. and.. I found Pricescope AFTER my diamond was bought.. *sigh* If we had found the site first, we’d have gone through a PS vendor for sure. And, I most certainly will when I upgrade. I will probably have my current center stone put in a pendant.

My FI is the 14th, BTW .

It would be fun to have a San Diego Meeting with all the SoCal girls! I think the furthest southern meeting has been LA. We should really make a post to see who’s interested! It would be huge fun!

To the PS moderator.. is that ok cause they’ve done other meeting postings.. where do they get posted?

My step-daughter was just recently Trainer for a day at Sea World (expensive but really an amazing experience for her). She was BEAMING when she got picked up. It was an seven hour day, and they were able to swim with a dolphin. Her dolphin actually had her baby with her, her name was Sophie and was six months old. She said she was just beautiful…

Michelle,

I was wondering that myself.  How are we supposed to get a hold of everyone?  We can't PM anymore, or get email addys.

I wouldn't want an enhanced stone either, although yours is lovely.

How lucky is your step-daughter to see the birth of a baby dolphin.  They are so precious.

Oh no.. she didnt see a birth, she actually swam with the mother and daughter dolphin! I love Sea World.. we're there every other weekend.. I love having yearly passes. lol

I think the girls create a post under a forum, like they did with the girls who are meeting in LA I think this weekend. They see who's interested and then have a central meeting point and time. It would be fun. I think it could be posted in Hangout.. the girls who are meeting this weekend have a post under the Brides World..

I saw that you had and because I am super disappointed with mine (situationally), I didn't want to say for you not to do it. I am sure your original clarity is much higher than mine from the get go, but I wouldn't have another enhanced stone.. they have to be careful in sizing and my trade in value is pooh.. I had hoped to use it for a trade in to a 2ct in a few years.. (like five years from now). My jeweler said that using it for a trade in and upgrade wouldn't get me what we paid for it as many jewelers don't like them. The jeweler I worked for and we bought it through was very misleading in its trade in value, telling us that it would be the same as a natural diamond. Its just not so.

When my FI went to the jeweler, he really pushed the enhanced stone- he specializes in them because he gets A LOT of money out of those sales. So, my sweetheart wanted to get me the biggest stone and oh Woo, if you could have seen his face- he was so proud to have bought this diamond. And for that reason, and that reason alone, I love it. I think, had it been a natural stone, I'd never upgrade it just due to his pride in picking the diamond out himself.

For what we'll end up paying for an upgrade, I may simply get a new stone and put the current stone in a pendant. I'm not sure.

I do want to say however, your ring is just really beautiful and I have always thought so.

Its a 18" 14k white gold chain and setting (It would look nicer on a 20" I think), with a 1.50 carat (I believe) sapphire. The stones outside the sapphire are moissanite. The earrings are made of the same though those sapphires are probably less than a carat each.

I got them on ebay :) Sadly, the vendor isn't a registered used any longer! I wanted to get a pair of earrings for each of my BM's.. but.. since they aren't registered any longer.. I have to find something else now.

Oh man, bummer.  Let me know if you find anything elsewhere for your BM, perhaps they'll have a similar necklace.  It is just beautiful by the way.  I wanted something really special for my mom that I know she'll love.  She has a ring that matches your necklace that she bought 30 something years ago and at the time couldn't afford the necklace that she loved too, so she had to choose.  She wears the ring everyday.  I think the necklace would be perfect if that was something I could get for her.  I guess if I can find it anywhere .  All the ones I've seen the sapphire is really small in the middle.

Thanks!!

Thanks Woo~ :) In my stone, I know where each inclusions is due to the flashes and you the lines, you see where they'd filled (ok, I can see it.. its not noticable to someone else). Generally speaking, they pick up a pink or colored flash. I dont know why, its just due to whatever they fill it with. I would bet that without the enhancement the stone would look like "frozen spit" (I dont know who coined this phrase, but its a good one. lol).

Honest to pete, I'd rather have a J/K or even L VS2/SI1 with medium plus fluorescence.. I hate that the jeweler lied to me.. but.. you know, I can't do anything about it now, and, I still love my ring and really, no one else would know its enhanced.. so.. it will be just fine :)

Woo you are so sweet for talking me through this.... Like you I know where each inclusion was so I focus on that when everyone else has been like  "WoW"  it looks GREAT!  I notice a little yellowing on the tips which was probably always there but after have the really WHITE RB in there I notice them more.  I am so critical but have to admit it looks better than it did.  Your stone looks like a BEAUTY!!!! Honestly I would have never known it was enhanced.  The sapphires really look good with it...  I am nervous about it :)  Was yours graded after the enhancement or before?????

No, it was graded after the enhancement. If you dont plan to trade up your stone, you'll be fine or if you have an agreement with your jeweler.. my issue and please don't think I'm being snotty, because I re-read what I wrote and I thought it kinda sounded like I was- I have always wanted a 2ct stone.. why, I dont know, but I just always dreamed of it.

When the jeweler told us that the trade in value would be the same, we were fine with buying the enhanced stone. But after having talked to other jewelers and knowing now that's just not so, its very disappointing. We paid (for us) a lot for the diamond alone and hoped that the value would hold.. but nope it didnt.

SO... even if the next stone I have set in my engagment ring isnt 2 carats, it will be some bigger than this but I'd like at least 1.75.. and.. I have seen from so many ladies here, thier 1.75 plus stones and my stars, they are stunning.. so.. anyway.. please don't think of me poorly for saying that.. I'm really not un-appreciative of my sweetheart.

It IS a pretty stone, really.. I kind of think of the flaws in my stone as its personality.. We all have flaws.. right? lol

WOOOOOOOOOO,

Thank you so much for sharing with me.  Our wedding set is so personal that it means alot to me that you would share all of this with me.  I absolutely do not think you sounded snotty....just honest :)  I too am very critical of diamonds since finding Pricescope.  I will say compared to most people around here I have a HONKER and they don't even notice quality.  Hubby and I did notice major issues once I learned so much here.  I don't think I will trade mine in on anything the size is awesome and but the one end was really bad causing it to be a I2   The enhancement has probably brought it to a SI2.....not bad but I think the ends area a little tinted.  I am think I am a LOON!!!   Marquise are strange stones, they show so much more and don't have the sparkle of RB's.  Like you I want the 2.0ct!!!! I hope this enhancement will keep me happy until I find that perfect stone :)  One thing is I am shocked that the stone enhanced is worth less   BUMMER!!!!! I thought it would be about the same.....that makes me sad.

I have a silly question.  Can you have your diamond cleaned and steamed normal ???????

Thank you

Yes, my jeweler still cleans them the same.. He's just careful when he steams it, the stone just can't reach a too hot temp or the fill will heat up and simply bubble out. They have to be careful too with sizing or whatever work might need to be done on the ring at any point. My stone is now an SI2 as well. I didnt notice anything at all wrong with your stone! I love my diamond along side my sapphires, and I think... that when I can finally upgrade, that the fluoresence will look amazing with the blues of the the sapphires.. yanno?

I guess this part of our chat should have been in the rocky talky forum, huh? lol

Hi SDL- your sapphire pendant and earringsare LOVELY! And I love your e-ring, too.

I just wanted to comment about your choice to keep the original stone as a pendant.
I wholeheartedly agree with the option, having gone through a recent upgrade myself.

My first stone was a J I1 with a decent cut.  I had already learned alot from ps so it was definitely the best we could afford at the time and I was very happy with it.

More recently, our financial situation improved dramatically so we could easily afford to upgrade.  I could have just kept the first stone as a pendant but I didn't.
I traded-up at the original jeweler and, here is what pisses me off, I HAD TO PAY SALES ATX on the WHOLE amount!
I expected to pay sales tax ONLY on the difference between the trade-in value and the new purchase.
Well, I already paid sales tax on the FIRST STONE!

So, now I wish I had kept the orig stone as apendant and paid cash for a whole new stone from a ps vendor.  They are so much easier to deal with- you can look at pics, get faster service, get a better stone, pay a lower price AND upgrade easily.

Just wanted to say soemthing hopefuylly yo help yuou feel better about keeping the orig stone.

Especially for the sentimentality factor.
I guess I could go back to the B&M, but I feel embarassed now.

I want to upgrade again in a year or two and it looks like I will have to pay sales tax on a 5 digit number and I am not happy!
