Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a GIA versus EGL Certificate? Thanks.

Hi Riley, GIA is the hallmark of the industry with the gratest reputation on grading . EGL is not a bad lab, just a bit relaxed on color grading and some EGL labs are relaxed also on clarity. Simply said,.. GIA is a buyers lab and EGL is sellers,... I may have a diamond that is border clarity VS2-SI1 GIA will issue the grade of SI1 and EGL will most likely issue the grade of VS2. When it comes to color if the diamond is GIA "F" most likely it will be EGL "E". Lower colors are even less consistant. I would not trust any other lab than GIA for grading of Natural Fancy colored diamonds,... I am not saying that you can't trust EGL,.. they are less reputable labs than EGL outhere! Some of them are joke! Best George
