I'm wondering how often a VS2 grading by the GIA will actually not be eye clean? Are there cases where VS2 gradings have visible inclusions?

Derek, check out this thread http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=30483 as this will help you a lot. It has happened that the OCCASIONAL VS clarity has had a very tiny inclusion visible, it can depend on people's eyesight and comfort levels, I know one poster who can spot inclusions in a VS - but this is the exception and not the rule. VS clarity is normally a safe choice for eyecleanliness. If you are concerned, ask the vendor again his honest opinion.
