I've fallen in love with the attached H&D ring but they are asking so much money for the ring I've been looking elsewhere. SP can make it for a mere $1650 and I'm anxiously awaiting the WF quote. My concern is that it's custom so I won't be able to return it if it doesn't meet the H&D standards. Any thoughts?

Here are the details:
Pt950 silkmatte 6,5mm wide / 2,4mm high approx. size 53 35 brilliants Fvs approx. 0,70 ct.

My other thought is to get this same band with larger diamonds... perhaps 10 pts. Will it lose it's "edge"?

Call me a dummy, but I'm not familiar with H&D. I know H&A, but I've never heard of H&D. What is it?

pretty, it looks kind of like the benchmark rings...

i don't know about H&D but that style doesn't look like it's NEVER been done before...two rows of metal with a row of diamonds in the middle, are they tension set? or just channel set. most likely channel it would seem.

custom can be definitely hit or miss, most vendors will try their hardest to make you happy but there is always the chance that the ring will not come out as you thought and you could be disappointed.

people always say if you want something EXACTLY as it is by a designer, then just get the designer piece even if it is more...it may save headaches later esp if you plan to compare to a designer ring that you already know you love. if you want to change up the design or just take one or two elements, then try custom.

I'm one of those people. To many times I've bought something close to the real deal and was never happy and ended up spending more in the long run. If you love the ring, everything about it, going custom isn't worth the headache because chances are it won't be exactly like the one you are trying to replicate. But, if there are several elements you'd want to change then custom can be a good alternative.

I also feel that if you can, you should support the artist who dreamed up the dreamy design. If you can't, go through the custom process. But there is a point to supporting artists...rewarding excellent ideas and design, if you can.

Unfortunately, it's a touch complex. I was unfortunately made aware of the wholesale cost via an accidental forwarded email and I can't stand the thought of paying more than a 100% mark-up to the jewelry store. Especially since I went to the store having already seen the ring online.. with this specific design in mind. So, I'm working with Whiteflash and thus far they have been great.

Lesley at WF did an amazing job coordinating the creation of this ring. It's absolutely gorgeous-- I'm so thrilled. I ordered it a 1/2 size too big so they did a creative eternity band "resize" with inserts.

Wow! It is gorgeous! What did the total carat weight end up? And what size is it?

Looking forward to shots on your hand!

Since this is my first post and i'm sure it won't be taken kindly by others, i'm going to apologize beforehand :D

Bockee, I also love Henrich and Denzel rings.
In fact my band, (somewhat like yours but diamonds on the side) as well
as my husbands are H&D purchased in philadelphia through Linde Meyer.
I'm from a different school of thought though. I believe there's a fine line between
custom work and blatantly copying a design.
Whiteflash may have done a too good of a job on your ring.
It looks identical to the original. While for you that's a great thing, i don't believe
the designer would agree.
I'm sorry, but i'm a firm believer that if you truely love the original design, get it from
who makes it. If you want modifications made to it, that's when it should become
a custom job.

I definitely agree, but I don't think this ring is all that unusual or unique.  Being that i have been in the market for wedding bands lately, this is quite a common style.

Great ring.

Comment* There is nothing 100% new in jewelry - it's always inspired or adapted by something else.

Hi ellchris.  Welcome to PS.  There is no need to apologize for expressing a viewpoint.

With respect and appreciation for your intent, this is not creative infringement.  A row of diamonds down the center of a circle can’t be trademarked.  We respect intellectual property, but simple universal shapes found in nature are not exclusive.  That is why you'll find designs like this among numerous manufacturers.

Bockee, we were pleased to create the piece for you and hope it brings you great joy.

John

We just had this discussion about our U-Prong with the surprise diamond.  We designed & introduced it 6 years ago.  At JCK this week we saw many copies that have sprung up (intentional or not).

It looks fab!! Wow I really love it. Can you share carat weight and all that? Maybe my husband needs a RHR???

I agree that when I saw the H&D ring at first, I thought it was the Benchmark ring which I first saw years ago. So H&D could have copied Benchmark to begin with. Who really knows. Nothing particularly unique about a row of diamonds in a ring.

But the finished product sure looks great, bockee!
