Sweet!  My First Post :

Well, I plan on proposing on Wednesday this week and I'll have the ring in hand on Tuesday (YES!).  So, all my decisions are made and finalized so I figured I'd see what you all think (yes, I will send photos of the actual ring when I get it) of the stone I purchased (from a family friend who works in the DD in NY).  I went through about 35 diamonds or so and 3 different sources, but I made my final decision:

I've got two sets of information on the stone (AGS and AGL) along with a GIA cert (the cert is not available at the moment), so I'll give you all the details I have:

1.35ct H SI1 (7.13 - 7.19 x 4.34mm) - wonderfully eye clean (of course, aren't they all? )

Hearts & Arrows and Ideal-Scope are excellent as well (I purchased all the scopes to do all the stone viewing myself).

                         AGS:           AGL:

Total Depth:       60.3%        60.4%
Table:                57.1%        57.0%
Crown Angle:      33.6           33.5
Pavilion Angle:     40.6           40.8
Culet:                 0.0%         0.0%
Girdle:                2.1% Avg.  2.1% Avg.
HCA:                  0.7            0.8  - used the online HCA advisor

Hopefully you can all alleviate my buyer's remorse and let me know what you think.

Thank you so much for all your help!  I've been reading the posts and looking at the awesome e-rings many of you have posted for a few months now (so, my time to post was long overdue).  I can say this was absolutely FUN and enjoyable (REALLY!) getting all of my own tools and asking all of the right questions and eliminating stones from my lineup.  Again, thank you all for your EXCELLENT wealth of information!

Welcome, Chewie!
I know very little about RB diamonds, but this one sounds good from my limited knowledge! And I have to say, it's very cute to hear that you're anxious. I picked out my own diamonds so my now hubby didn't go through that--except when it was time to pay the bill

So what setting(s) are you considering for this lovely stone?

Well, I can give you an "idea" as to what it will look like.  It is a platinum ring based on this ritani setting.  I say "based, because I added a few more diamonds to the shank of the ring in order to have the diamonds wrap around further.  And the diamonds on this ring are about 0.5 - 0.6 points each and I increased the size to 1 points each (basically there is less metal between the stones, but the setting should be plenty strong).

I'll get the real pics up as soon as possible

I don't know how to attache multiple photos, but here is the URL:

http://www.ritani.com/flash/view_page.php?style_num=1RD1648BBB

Thanks again!

Here it is (no hand shots yet...):

Some of the colors may be a bit off, but it is AWESOME and damn sparkly.  I tried to capture the blue reflections as well off the stone, but you can see 'em on the paper in front of the ring.

I'll be asking tonight (I just can't hold off on doing it).. I'll give you all the proposal details and her answer later

I don't know why these came out so large??? SORRY!!!

Just wanted to say good luck tonight.  Most people do one at a time??  That would be easier??  Me I can't post squat.

She said YES!!!!

It was a very simple proposal.  I tied the ring to a ribbon and place it around her cat's neck (she LOVES that cat).  I went down to the basement and yelled "Look what your cat did to the new couch"!!!

She promptly ran downstairs and (after looking at the cat for a moment) was totally floored.  I then got on one knee and did what so many of you have heard before :)

So, here's some hand pics:

I just REALLY wanted to thank all of you for the wonderful posts, photos, expertise and support.  You've all helped make last night a FANTASTIC event!!!
