Hi All.. hope I'm posting this in the right place but I have a question for all of you :) and hope you can help.

My fiancee has "cone shape" fingers. They are bigger at the base and go steadily narrower up his finger. His family have genetically different knuckles so they are flat. He has lost *3* sterling rings I have bought him so far.. but wonder, is there a wedding ring that he can wear that will fit, and stay on properly?

We have a ring in mind that he loves, its a very heavy, lovely ring, very solid, with dual cable, almost Charriol like, 18k white gold. Its at least 6mm wide.

Any other suggestions for me (and he *gasp* doesnt want diamonds)? I'd like to "hear" and see if you have.

Many thanks!!
Michelle

I don't mean this as a joke.

I know a guy who's wedding "ring" is tatooed onto his finger.
His wife's is too.

They are both artists and didn't think this was too strange.
They even got on TV for it.

This was 20 years ago.
Yes, they are still married.

I kind of like the idea of a wedding ring that you cannot take off.

At least he will wear one.  Hubby never wore one.  I have no clue for ideas about the whole knuckle issue.  I guess going with a wider band would help alleviate the problem of him losing it??  I'll let the experts chime in!!

Thanks for the thought, but my fiancee finds tattoos offensive and, as a police officer here, even if he could have one, cannot have them showing outside his uniform. There is a strict policy tattoos may not show outside the uniform or from under plain clothes for professionalism reasons.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Thanks Kaleigh! My FI really wants to wear one. He thought maybe if there was something spring-like to go inside his ring that perhaps it could help.. I dont know. I feel bad for him.. but.. I also hate to spend 1k on a ring that may plop off, too...

You have a great jeweler that made your fab ring.  I'd ask him.  The spring-like thing to go inside his band sounds like a good idea to me.  But what do I know.  Also why the huge caps??

A compressed spring is a force.  That force doesn't want to be there (the spring doesn't like being compressed) and (I think) he'll end up losing the ring.  I think a wiiide band that is snug at the bottom would work.

I would get that U shaped spring that one of the posters has. It looks like it might work in your situation.

Well, the band is pretty wide, but oddly enough his finger size changes quite frequently.. I know.. weird.. so, I just dont know what else to do.

I think we may just end up asking the jeweler about the spring inside the ring.. wah.

Thanks Julie and Tacori, I found it and it looks like it just might be the key to keeping his ring on his finger.. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!

Would something square rather than round shaped work better? I forget what they're called, maybe european shank?

Sadly, he doesnt care for that shape of ring. (He's just a tad stubborn that way.. ).. however, I do believe that this horseshoe would work.. especially because it has some give.

Thanks!!!

Maybe you could get something that matches his finger shape? Perhaps bevelled so that the inside is more roomy at the bottom of his finger and more snug towards his fingertips? '/ \' inside but 'I I' outside? Would need to be pretty thick ring though so that the thinner portion was still pretty structural.

Don't worry darling, I'm only looking!!

I don't know if you have already checked Titanium wedding bands out, but I ordered my hubby's from Titaniumera.com and they have any thickness and width you would want and also they square bands oval bands eightsided bands, and type of round like shape you can think of.  Plus titanium is like the hardest metal out there so he wouldn't have to worry about bending it or braking it.  I hope this can help but if it can't good luck with your search.

The ring my FI chose is a wide band, and actualy pretty thick as well.. 14k white gold. Its a great ring, and with his job, he needs something substantial. Its very "masculine"..

I had him look at some titanium rings but he really has his heart sort of set on this one.

Thanks!!
