I've asked this question to many people and nobody have answered me. Why??? I don't know, but I'm still looking for it. I want to buy some emeralds from a seller in Colombia, but asking for prices I've found very different prices for very similar emeralds. Does somebody knows if a table, chart or scale has been designed to price emeralds? For instance, "a 3ct. emerald, VS1, Bg, medium color will not cost more than $x". Thanks to all the gems field!!!

Hello there Andres, there are too many variables when pricing emeralds. There are several different guides available as a reference...e-mail me if you are interested and I'll e-mail you the info. Also, are you able to tell the difference between a synthetic hydrothermal or flux created emerald verses a natural? Or can you differentiate say an optican treatment vs. cedar oil treatment. These processes represent only a few of the variables which will greatly influence the price of an emerald. Good luck George George Houghtaling II Graduate Gemologist (GIA)GG,ISA,NAJA |
