Hello All,
I recently found out that WhiteFlash is about 5 blocks from where I live!   My (dumb) question is, will they offer the similar prices in-store as they do online? I wasn't sure if their online inventory is all in-store..  Should I print out various diamond search results and bring them in with me?
thanks,

*****************
UPDATE:
well, I just got back from WF and got a look at 3 diamonds.,
http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_details.aspx?idno=2167534
1.278 H VS1

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_details.aspx?idno=2313854
1.34 G VS2

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_details.aspx?idno=1920637
1.274 G VS2

Im still a diamond newbie so bear with me =)

Met with one of the gemologists, everyone was super nice.  He had 3 diamonds on the table and asked me to try to pick the only H colored out of the group.  Surprisingly, I felt they each had a very slight tint of yellow to them - maybe I thought G or H's would have less color.  But I was able to pick out the H, but it was difference was so slight.  But I definitely won't go lower than H from now on.

Of course all were eye clean, but when I got to look through a loupe (for the first time), I was surprised to see all the of small little inclusions from the top...  also saw the hearts and arrows which was neat.

Couldn't tell the difference in size btw the 1.27 carat and 1.34.. He had a extra tiffany 4 prong ring to place them on- they looked pretty nice "dry mounted", but .. for some reason.. I wasn't blown away.
He mentioned that you couldnt really tell from the naked eye btw ACA HandArrows and an ideal cut stone, so that got me thinking too.

I don't know. Maybe I was expecting too much.  All and all, it was a nice experience.  I guess I'm looking for more bang for the buck, without sacrificing much quality -and that all-important sparkle and fire.  I kind of feel like I could go for a bigger, but slightly lower clarity and cut diamond for around 10k.   I could maybe go for a 1.55 carat, SI1 for about the same price, without the famous "hearts and arrows" or ACA tag.. but maybe I should just pay for high quality and settle for the 1.25 carat range.. then again how big is the difference btw 1.30 and 1.50 really?

argh.. decisions, decisions..

Hi H-town.

We're on Richmond outside the Galleria - across from Ruth's Chris to be specific (dangerously habit-forming) .  Yes, our inventory is all kept onsite.  We prefer that before you schedule a personal viewing you work with one of our consultants via phone/email to narrow the field.  When you come in one of our gemologists will meet with you, spend time discussing diamond education and show you your candidate diamonds.

John

technically you are supposed to claim your out of state purchase on your tax's. Most people don't and get away with it but there have been some recent threads about it and the IRS is going to catch on sooner or later

Hey all, well I haven't made it in yet, but I've finally called W.F. to schedule an appointment.  They said that I will only be allowed to view about 3 diamonds during my visit, (?) so I have to pick my absolute top 3 favorite and they will set up a time.

I'm looking for something close to 1.33 carat, VS1-SI1, F-H color, excellent cut. (on a 4 prong tiffany platinum ring). Trying to keep total price under 10k.  Is this possible?

Using the pricescope cut quality search, I came out with these.  Price is a little bit lower for pricescope visitors.

any thoughts on these diamonds? Much Thanks!

I agree that they all look great, and all seem like great choices. They all have good HCA scores too, being 1, 1.7, 1, and 1.3 respectively. Tough choice, but at least they are all great diamonds. I see there is a little bit of variance in the prices. Maybe that will influence you. GOOD LUCK!!

I vote for the following:

1--it's the only ES in your group and is cheaper.
3--it's the only H in your group and is still an ACA...it'll be a good test if you are color sensitive and offers a great value.
2 or 4....choose one...they both look great.

I checked for SI stones in your ranges and there was nothing.  I might ask them when they expect to get some in because those are an even better value than the VS2s.

I like the idea of WF tossing in a fine steak to the purchase..... You are luckily very close to their home office.  No doubt, many other people wish they were that nearby, too.

Hi Htown,

You mentioned a larger stone (1.5) with SI1 clarity...that would be beautiful. And yes, there is definitely a visible difference between a 1.3 and 1.5 round, IMO. There are many eye-clean SI1s to be had and they represent great value for the money. Again, just make sure the cut quality is high and it'll throw sparks like crazy. However, there can be exceptions. My original e-ring is a 1.37 RB GIA "good" cut but it is somehow more fiery than ideal cuts of the same size. Even my independent appraiser marveled at how well it performed and how it out-sparkled some top-notch stones. Great numbers are usually indisputable, but then again, there are exceptions where stones that you might pass up based on HCA or proportions would surprise you with their performance. If you weren't blown away, go back and next time, ask for a selection of larger stones with varying cuts, colors, and clarities. Just see what your eyes like!

I am a bit confused here??

If you are potentially going to spend serious money with WF, then why can you only view three diamonds when you visit? That makes no sense.

One sale is potentially worth $$$$K, so why can you only look at three diamonds?

If you go into a B&M, they don't say you can only look at three rings....because they want your business!

Please...someone explain this to me

Sure.  Our personal viewings are appointments made in advance, where the client meets privately for dedicated amount of time with one of our gemologists.  Before the appointment is made our sales consultant has worked with the customer to arrive at specifics.  We gladly line up the diamonds the customer is interested in, and we may have suggestions as well.  We go over each diamond quite thoroughly.

The 3 diamonds HTownguy saw today were specifically requested.  He did not ask to see others during the viewing.  Of course he's in a good position, because if If he wants to arrive at a different array of candidates he is local, and welcome to schedule time with us again.

John
