Do you ladies believe in them as far as weddings go?  Just curious, my FI has seen my dress, not me in it though, we will probably be together the night of our wedding and wake up together the day of.  Although I do not want him to see me in my dress until our wedding day (more because I will be all made up that day) we are having pictures taken before we get married so he will see me in my dress.

Just curious how much you all believe?

When my engagement ring was being made, they had drawn it up with 6 sidestones on each side and the center diamond...13 diamonds in total. I told them no way. I asked them to add another to each side (or take a couple away!) to make 11 or 15. Not 13!

Regarding the dress, I've shown my fiance several I'm thinking about. I want to see what styles he likes since I can't make up my mind. Honestly, I don't want to walk down the aisle in something he finds hideous. Sadly, he finds most wedding dresses to be hideous. He does really like what I've picked out so far, though I'm positive he's forgotten all about them by now!

Regarding the pictures, have you considered having all the other pictures done before the wedding, but not the pictures of you and your fiance? That way he will not have seen you before the wedding and you'll have most of the pictures done. This is what we're doing for our wedding.

Sadly, he finds most wedding dresses to be hideous.

This is exactly why my FI saw the picture of my dress.

I don't care that my FI will see me before we are married.  I decided that we were having the pictures taken before we are married after being invited to my friends wedding and seeing that the time between the ceremony and reception is 2 hours!  Plus where ever we get married people will have to travel at least 1.5 hours, it's just better for us to get pictures out of the way.

Since we live together, I don't know if there is a way he WON'T see me before the wedding. I can't bear the idea of sleeping away from him on the night I need to get enough rest. Honestly, I just can't sleep without having him to rub my butt against.  It's all very "Married with Children" ya know, "Rub my tushie". I can't sleep without him next to me. But then again, I've always been a person who needs to hear noise to fall asleep. As for pictures, I like Aphis' idea. Since ours will be a brunch soiree, I'd rather have more time to loosen up before I have the take the pictures of US. And I'm not a morning person, so as much time to sleep in as possible, I'll do. Man, look what a budget does to me? Makes me wake earlier to get a better deal. I won't let him see my dress until the last possible second. As far as he's concerned, we're sleeping apart that night. We'll see.

I know that the dress should be our choice, and ultimately, it is...but I had this horrible daydream of me walking down the aisle in something that would make him gag. Kind of ruins the whole "groom sees his beautiful bride for the first time" fantasy. You can bet that I know he'll like the dress before I buy it. For those who are afraid they'll remember it...they probably won't. It's a dress. They don't have memory space in their brains for things like that.

Amber, I'm with you. I'll want him to be with me the night before our wedding. He'll calm my nerves....either that or he'll make me mad because I'll ask him 'we're getting married tomorrow aren't you excited' and he'll respond with 'Eh.  Not really!'   The guy never gets nervous or excited about anything.

Ebree, my FI asked me one day 'what if I don't like the wedding dress you pick out? Am I suppose to be honest or lie?'  So I said let me ask you this? Do you want me to cry all day or be happy? I ended up showing him the picture and he liked it. Although I could probably ask him today what it looked like and he'll say 'I don't know'

I'm definitely superstitious!  My husband didn't see my dress before the wedding.  I took it to my parents' house since my tailor is right near them and it stayed either at their home or at the tailor's until it was delivered to me the day before the wedding!  Where was it delivered?  To the place I stayed in the night before the wedding since I didn't want to see him on our wedding day until I walked down the aisle!!  Our reception location was a private university club and it also serves as a hotel.  They give you a suite on the night of your wedding but I chose to pay and stay there the night before as well.  That's where my sister and I got ready, hair and makeup people came to us, photographer was there to document the transformation!  I took pictures alone with my family before the ceremony and then we did formal shots as husband and wife with our families right after the ceremony but before the cocktail hour.  It worked out perfectly.

Another superstition--I eliminated table #13!  I went from 12 to 14, I just couldn't stand the thought of putting any of my guests at table 13!  Pretty ridiculous but you have to do whatever makes you feel better!!!

NOT at all!!!  My fiance and I are getting married on October 13th, Friday the 13th!  So no superstitions there...  He will not see my wedding dress until I walk down the aisle which was very important to me.  I just read the post of the person that says she didn't even have a table 13 and that is all we are having Table 13A, 13B etc.  We decided to have a little fun with our wedding date and roll with it...

FI has seen me in my dress... I don't really care. Everyone told me it's terrible... but really, it's not that important to me.

DH and I went dress shopping together.  He saw me in every single dress that I tried on, and had a strong opinions against some dresses.  In the end, we picked out the one we both liked the best.  I didn't think it was a big deal; my friends were the only one who didn't like the idea.  Plus since I got the dress 9 months before the wedding, he had forgotten how the dress looks like, and on the wedding day I was all dolled up and the whole feeling was totally different from when we went shopping.
