Hi Everyone!

I have an appointment on saturday at Quest to get a pendant made out of a citrine I bought at the gemshow the other week. I have a promise ring my BF gave to me that I adore which also has a citrine so I think it will be great to have a pendant too. The stone is a pear shape and around 2.75cts. I believe my ring is 2.5 cts so it is close in size. I want to make a really beautiful pendant but am kind-of stuck as to what I want. I know I will brainstorm with Pete on Sat. but wanted some pricescope suggestions! My budget is pretty open right now so I am looking for any suggestion, I dont think I want to spend over 500, though! The only thing I know that I do not want is a halo. I am going to try to attach at picture of my promise ring so you guys can see the direction I want to go!

Thanks in advance for the help!

How does... a super discrete claw setting hanging the citrine as an articulated drop from a small diamond? A tube-set diamond (small) could make up the bale by itself, or hide it.

By 'discrete setting' I mean something like these:

Typically, for drop pendants and earrings the stone's setting can be allot lighter than the prongs holding the same stones in a ring.

Ana,

Your so good! We can always count on you for a quick reply! I like the idea, I dont know if you can tell from the picture but some of the prongs on my ring are double claw and I loooove it. I like the idea of simply and I like the fact that the setting would make it easy to clean but I think I am looking for something similar but with a little something else. maybe some pave on the bail....I dont know! But you are on the right track!

I like this leon one, but I think there is too much pave on the but I like the shape. Something along these line, but less pave....the prongs on this one are like the other two prongs on my ring (on the ring the east west prings are double and the north south are like this pic)

Actually, this setting (the one on the right) is perfect for a pendant I am going to make for my BF's mother. She said she would like a pendant which allowed the stone to actually touch her neck in some way and I have been looking for something that would allow that! Perfect!

What a great project, Virginia.  Do you want this pendant to be worn on a chain (as opposed to an omega)?  Since a halo is out, do you want diamonds at all?  Hmmmm, how about a round diamond at the point (top) and the pear below that.  Your ring is lovely.  Is that a pear also or an oval (can't tell from the pic)?

I helped a dear friend pick out colored stones at the jewelry show the other week too (her children's birth stones), and we have an appointment at Quest on 03/17 to design a pendant.  Since I've worked with Quest, I promised I go with her too to work out the design.  Her pendant is going to be a more contemporary-style slide for an 4 mm omega though.

Thanks so much for the compliment on my ring! I adore it and that pic does not do it justice in any way at all! The stone I currently have is oval but I love pears and this one is so nice! I wish I had a camera so I could take a pic, but oh well! I am at work right now.

The pendant will be worn on a chain I already own which I do not know the name of the style! I want to say snake or somehting, but it is smooth and round (making any sense?) I do want diamonds on there somewhere. Did you see the leon pic I posted? I love the idea but a little less pave on the very back, I think......

I love the guys at Quest, they replaced one of the pave stones on the ring for me a couple of weeks ago and I was so impressed. I plan on doing plently of work with them in the future!

I typed my last post and forgot to hit send before I answered the phone.  Then by the time I sent it, more posts had come in with the Leon pic.  I like the idea of a pave bail and maybe pave on the prongs somehow.  I totally agree and would not bother with all that pave on the back since no one observing your pendant will see that part.   I'd also be curious to see the front pic.

I, too wish I could see the front...I think I will just have Quest make a very ammended version of that pendant, with diamonds on the prongs and bail somehow.

Anyone know where I can find a picture of the front or does anyone have any other ideas?

I really don't know if this is fair treatment of such castings... but one can dream, right

The diamond-set shapes come from the Adwar catalog - at least a few sellers posting here use it (Michael E and Wink, as far as I know - probably others too).

Ah, I am such a flake! I DID see your thread before. Sometime during the day yesterday I read it and wanted to bookmark it for my boyfriend to show him the "super discrete claw setting" Ana suggested a bit earlier. And then I could not find it for the life of me... because I couldn't remember whose thread I saw the pics in.

Brilliant.

Now if only I could close the door to my office and research this ALL day. :)

Virginia,

How's your project coming along? Did you meet with the jeweler?

Ha ha, no I am not afraid of that! I just cant really describe it well...it is partially based on my ring which I can not seem to get a good picture of! I will try to have Pete take a good picture of the pendant before I pick my baby up! :)
