Good morning ladies.... hope everyone's doing great and is well rested after the weekend.

This morning, for the first time in my life, I ran 5 miles! That's 40 laps around our track, and I am pooped!

Last monday, we did 4.5 and it didn't feel too bad - who would have thought that just a .5 mile jump would make such a big difference...

Off to have a bit of food now and hopefully regain some energy.

How's everyone doing?

Stermag, WOW!  5 miles is great.  I actually worked out this morning at 6am for the first time in my life!  I had my mom and bf call me to make sure I woke up.  It feels great to have it done w/already, however, I am a bit sleepy.  I think it will take an adjustment but on days when I work out at home, i'm going to try and keep it up.  I just wish I could get back into bed after. Oh well.
Last week didn't turn out to be too good for me.  I worked out 3 days rather than my goal of 5.  This week, I go back to my goal of 5.  One down!
I have a Weight Watchers meeting today at work.  I'm going to see if I like it and possibly join.  I'm excited but not sure how i'll feel in a meeting w/a lot of people.  We'll see..

Have a good day everyone.

Stermag - I love that avatar of the melon head kitty!  I have seen that one before and it always makes me laugh!

My eating has been weird today, not much time but hopefully I will get on track tomorrow!

Hi girls!!

Sorry I have been absent, I just got back from my trip. I am exhausted!!! I have not worked out since Thursday even! I am so bad! But I did pretty good with my eating while I was gone, only splurging at dinner one night a little bit and at the party with some sweets. All in all it really was not that bad. I want to get back on track tomorrow but I might not until Wed. I took my car to the dealership before I left and they said it was fixed, but when I went to pick it up yesterday it was not. So, I am carless. Blah.

Glad to be back home, though!! I will get back on the exercise track this week! I will!

Stermag- congrats on the 5 mile! Yaaay for you! Amy- great job on waking up early, I promise it gets easier.

BTW- stermag, people are really nice in Ohio---such a change from DC!

congratulations on 5 miles!!  quite a way to start a week.

i ran a solid 3.5 miles at a good pace on thursday -- yet again skipping out on happy hour  -- but didn't do much since then, but one long dog walk/hike on sunday.  it's been really chilly and blustery, not the best weather.  i've been good with food -- so tonight it's back to the gym.  now that it's march i'm going to start phasing in more crunches/push ups

i thought about posting this weekend but since i didn't do anything, figured why. hehehe.

it started raining yesterday so it's nasty outside! but i did get in some gardening on saturday for a few hours so figured that was a good mini workout, and yesterday was doing some housecleaning and all that, we have three flights of stairs in our house so moving around does get at least the blood pumping a bit.

on friday i went 2.5-3miles at the local park (can never tell for sure and i got distracted) so that was a good end to the workout week for me...today i plan to go to kickboxing BUT my arm hurts again...well it was hurting last nite, i just am sooooo done with it. greg wants me to go see the DR but i know they will just tell me to stop working out on it for like 2-3 weeks or something. it's just such an odd injury, plus it's my dominant arm so i do everything with it, which probably prevents it from healing completely so far. hmmmmm. so i am unsure if i should go to class tonite and take a risk or just walk (but its raining).

on a positive note i see more changes in my body, especially around my lower waist/hip area, things are starting to smooth out a little more, aka my little luv handles are almost gone and there is a smooth line from waist to hip, yay. so i'll keep plugging along, body changes are interesting to watch.

here's hoping to a fruitful workout week for all of us and many healthy (yet yummy) salads as well. Greg's sister is coming to visit on Thurs and so we'll be going out almost every night while she's here so i plan to be extra good this week so that i won't feel guilty splurging on 3-4 nights out.

eta congrats on 5miles!! i can't run worth anything long distance (i was a sprinter in HS), so i love hearing when others can.

Mara,

Injuries are such a bummer.  I'm beginning to suspect a mild case of plantar fasciitis.  I'm going to drop by the local running store after work today and hopefully they'll just recommend some heel inserts or tape to give the arch some extra support...   but I worry that what I really should be doing is cutting back a bit....   Meanwhile, my 10k (6.5m) is only 10 weeks away...   and today was my first 5 mile run....  so I have a long way to go.

Anyway, I hope your arm heals soon...  because I know how hard it is to have to miss a workout, even when you know it's the right thing to do and that's what your body needs.

yeah kaleigh said that she hoped i didnt have rotator cuff problems, i was like WHAT IS THAT and she mentioned surgery as how to fix it, so now i am all paranoid about it....i hope that is not the case. stupid arm! just when i wanted to really ramp it up and i am stuck babying my arm. so unfair.

Virginia, I hope you're right about it getting easier.  Today, I have a terrible headache.  I know it's not likely to be attributed to my early morning workout but ...  Glad you had a good trip and did well.
Mara, sorry to hear about your arm.  Hopefully you don't need surgery.  That's great that you're seeing body changes.  It's a great motivator.

I went to the weight watchers meeting at work.  It was ok.  My only concern is that I will already know most of the nutritonal stuff.  I feel like I know what to do, it's just getting me to do it.  So maybe it will help motivate me to do what I know is right in terms of eating and working out.  I don't really like the idea of weighing in w/others there.  That would be odd.  I have 2 wks to decide b/c our meetings will be on Monday's and my office is closed next Monday.

Sorry to hear about the injuries/illnesses, ladies!  I hope everyone feels better soon.

Well, I finally joined e-diets last night.  Tonight I'm going back to my gym to join the training group for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.  I think these two things will help me get rid of my 25 extra pounds that I gained after getting married 2.5 years ago.  I went through all my clothes yesterday and found so many things (mostly bottoms) that I still want to wear but are too small!  I organized the rest of my stuff I've been holding onto for way too long into one closet of nothing but items that will go into my garage sale...I plan to take the proceeds in a couple months and put them towards some new duds I've been eyeballing at J.Crew!

Monarch, you go girl! Organizing the closet is such a daunting task for me... I wish I could just commit to taking care of it one day and following through... Meanwhile, I just fantasize about how great it would be... My wardrobe desperately needs some TLC - I have no idea what I have, I wear the same 5-6 things every week while other stuff just sits there. I don't know what fits, what doesn't... I want to go shopping but need to first figure out what I need.

I should just start setting aside some money for clothes each month... 'cause Lord knows, once I get in shape, I'm going to spend it like there's no tomorrow. :)
