I won't be getting anything this year  Blod I will have to get myself a box of Maltesers to make up for it

Er...I doubt it..he did last year and one other time. I'm not BIG on flowers it seems like you spend $$ on them and they die.

Absolutely!  Fresh flowers in my house are one of my favorite things.  They don't have to be a giant, expensive bouquet, just pretty.  Many times I buy myself flowers just because I enjoy looking at them in my home.  After 20 years together, he know flowers makes me smile, so he'll definitely be bringing me a bunch.

This is our first V-day while being married so probably yes.  He will most likely send red roses since he sees those as the traditional "I love you" flowers.  I actually prefer pink flowers and they don't have to be roses.  I'd be really happy with a bunch of gerbera daisies or better yet a gift certificate to mail order some perennials for my yard.  But he doesn't see those as romantic enough...so who am I to complain?

Sore subject in our house. In 4.5 years I've gotten flowers once. Last year for my 30th birthday he (as always) asked what I wanted. I rambled off a bunch of things and ended it with 'Oh, or flowers would be sweet.'

Because I mentioned the flowers, I was not going to get the flowers (even though he had already planned on getting me flowers). Weird guy, huh? He said, flowers aren't a gift, they're something you just feel like giving. As soon as it becomes an expectation, it ceases to have the same meaning as giving flowers because I want to give them.

Great in theory except (read the second sentence above.)

I haven't mentioned flowers since my birthday (last summer) so maybe, but on Valentines Day there's a certain expectation.

My guess is no.

Nope, he used to send me roses fairly often but as I hate them it seemed rather a waste of money. Unfortunately my BFF mother and little brother all told him on the same day...I have not gotten any sort of flowers since. I really like Blue Bonnets and jonquils but those are not really bouquet flowers.  I do know that he has sent me a package for Valentines Day/5 year anniversary/2 months of being engaged. He seems excited about it so I am thinking it will be something cute and thoughtful.

Hubby knows I would far rather have a bottle of Chanel Number 5 than expensive flowers, especially with the raised price of them this time of year.  A dozen roses are a horrendous price and would put quite a bit of cash towards a bottle of it  After a couple of days the flowers just wilt, unless it is me not caring for them properly.

I honestly don't know what to expect for vday....my bf does nice things for me all the time, so Vday will probably seem no different to him.... (though he knows I LOVE receiving flowers from him. When they start to die I dry them out and perserve them...and store them in a box. I still remember when I received every rose, including the beautiful pink one from our first "date" (my avatar) nearly a year ago )

as for me....I plan on spoiling him since he spoils me on a daily basis
I have some nice things planned

I'm not expecting it but it wouldn't surprise me if he did bring me flowers.  We discussed it and I told him a card is fine for V-day.

No flowers and no gifts for us this year. Money's too tight for us with the wedding coming up. A nice dinner is probably all we'll get.

Yes, for sure! But he set the bar kind-of high last year when he sent two dozen! Now he has to keep up with himself! Ha ha. But this is the only day of the year I know he will send them. He sent some on our anniversary and I was taken completely by suprise! But, I looooove fresh flowers especially roses. I am sure for Valentines that they will be red, but the ones from our anniversary where white and just beautiful!

DF, my American boyfriend, does this mean I can expect a bouquet from you on the 14th then?

My bf says he doesn't 'believe' in flowers.  He's gotten them for me a couple of times, but the last time I (jokingly) asked him if he had cheated on me.

He's taking me out to nice dinner and I asked him this morning if we were exchanging gifts and he said no.  I think I might get him a card though.

Valentines is just about the only day out of the year i ever get flowers from DH. Like DiamondLil, i love fresh flowers in the house and just always end up buying them for myself... but everytime I get them, I ask him, "Dont they look nice? I love fresh flowers." He kinda ignores me now!

I agree they are a waste of money, particularly expensive roses... ive tried to teach DH that little daiseys are just as cute, but he insists on roses.

Hmmm, not sure if I will be getting V-day flowers or not, it's ok though. One year he brought flowers home with the price sticker still on them .  Now, our baby is due on Valentines. If she actually arrives on V-day, that would be the best Valentines day gift for us EVER.

My husband actually enjoys flowers and buys them for the house on occasion, such as if people are coming over.  I will know if he will do that for Valentines if the house is clean, because he always cleans the house before he buys flowers (he hates flowers in a messy house).  They won't necessarily be roses, but something nice.

Dee Jay, so yours will be running into mine at Costco.. Last year, though, he asked if that was "okay" that he got them from Costco. I told him, "Flowers are flowers". One year, our frist Valentine's Day together, he tried to be sneaky, and hid the roses in a hot room until I found them. Poor things drooped so much, they looked like something had strangled them. Poor guy felt so bad!

A card and flowers are absolutely mandatory. I just have to remind him a few times to pick them up.He always comes thru in the end though. This year for the first time in 16 yrs I decided not to remind him to get me a x-mas card. Of course he totally forgot! Totally hopeless but love him anyway.

I doubt it very much. In 15 years together I've only received flowers twice - once for our first valentines day and the other time when our son was born.

However, I've just ordered champagne and chocolates to be delivered to him at work on Valentines Day. Then we'll go shopping for my gift at the weekend

Not sure.  He gets me flowers occasionally for no reason, and sometimes doesn't get me flowers on V-Day.  It doesn't matter to me either way.  Besides, they're more expensive this time of year, and I'd rather save the money for more sparklies.

I have learned not to expect anything that way if he does something it is even better (and if he forgets I am prepared). Last year he did surprise me and took me to the jewelry store to order my setting. That was pretty exciting!

Maybe flowers, but I know it won't be on Valentines Day, because he doesn't want to spend extra $$ for the v-day mark up. So maybe the day before or after?? I'm not counting on it though cause he rarely gets me flowers. I think he's going to cook me a fillet mignon dinner though! And I showed him a bracelet that I liked so maybe he'll remember to get that for me!

Not expecting flowers because we are already doing a bunch of other things to celebrate.  We are going out of town this weekend and have tickets to an awesome show next week...
If he does decide to surprise me with flowers that would be great too, but with the prices on flowers being at least twice what they are normally at this time of year, I'd be just as happy with him saving the $ for my ring and buying me flowers for his proposal!!!

Hmmm... I know were going out for dinner, he did say that he had a surprised planned.
Flowers? If I were to get flowers, I would just love a simple mixed bouquet. This will also give me a chance to take some flower pics of my rings

One year on V-day, while he was at work, he bought me roses and had them delivered to me at home. When I finally got them, I only recieved 12 stems so we called the florists for the other 2. That killed the moment. Other than that, when I found out that he spent over $100 for mediocre, over priced roses, I almost flipped out but I didn't; I graciously accepted and left it alone.

So, now I usually hint to him that a beautiful bouquet from the supermarket is lovely enough without having to spend a fortune.
