oh, the last one is $4839.... is there any possibility of online sites dropping their price a few hundred dollars? I have been inside stores, but not sure about on-line...thanks. |

Hi D, I wish that there was an easy answer to your question regarding the three of these stones, but my answer would only give you a partial answer to your question. Here goes! There are no idealized measurements for princess cut diamonds yet. There are however, a few charts available which some establishments use to determine cut grades. These grading systems are and have been subject to critism. Some have argued that going by the numbers alone is only 30% indicative as to the predictability of the beauty of a princess. Others have determined that the numbers mean absolutely nothing when attempting to judge a princess cut. Two Princesses with similar "numbers" can significantly vary on 'look'. There are some comparitive tools such as the brilliance-scope and ideal scope which have provided visual aids for reccomendation concerning princess cuts. And many have advised that fancy cuts like the princess should be examined by an independent appraiser prior to purchase. These are just a few current interpretations of how many individuals perceive the pursuit of the princess cut. And a final determination would be that the consumer should be the final judge by personally inspecting the stone and making a visual purchase. In any event, answering your question is not as easy as it seems if you decide to look at this objectively. As for purchasing online there should be no problem what-so-ever when dealing with reputable vendors. Great savings and superior quality can be found if you know how and where to look for it. Be mindful of Kirk's advice. That said, just to give you some gut instinct direction, I would say I like the sound of the 1.05 the least. The 1.01 looks good, and although the info on the 1.03 is sketchy, it might be as good or better. This guidance though is like that of a man groping three women in the dark. Partially reliable, but confirmed only when the lights are switched on. Rich, GG Sarasota Gemological Laboratory Rich, Independent GG Appraiser |

Remember that the princess cut numbers you're looking at are averages.... How close each of the measurements are is critical on how the stone will appear. Many princess cuts have one quadrant that isn't in sync with the others... Rockdoc

well, i saw a couple of those diamonds at goodoldgold website. I thought about calling or emailing them but wanted more information first. They seem to have a few that I like and I like the fact there is a lot of information on them, especially because the Princess cut seems to be hard to put a handle on. Anyone else see the rocks there, and might be able to decipher some of the nicer ones in the carat range? |

If you want a square stone than the third one is the squarest of all three as the top measurements are closer .If it doesnot matter to you that the second one is the best value for the money! It really is up to you! as these are all nce stones! As far as negotiating the price,I think you should look at different sites and compare the prices and incentives and see who gives you the best price! good luck and happy holidays diamondsman Diamondsman |
