DBOF> To achieve Brilliant Fire status. What measurements, color, clarity or any other factors determine if it cuts the grade? Or is it only based on the BrillianceScope readings? Should it all hinge on the GemEx scores? Thanks

You might check out Dave Atlas' AGA cut grading chart at http://www.gemappraisers.com/chrt4.htm That would give you a good start on the parameters of a well made princess cut. From there you could use the direction of brilliancescope scores to better direct you. An IdealScope would give you a good visual reference to go by when examining the stone personally. You can purchase one of those for $25 at http://www.ideal-scope.com/order.asp Rich, GG Sarasota Gemological Laboratory Rich, Independent GG Appraiser |
