I am new to the site and new to diamonds. I need some advice. Would you go with a 1.5 carat, G color asscher or a 1.8 carat, H color asscher? I have not seen a lot of asschers, because a lot of BM stores do not have them in stock. How important is the difference in color with asschers? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Id go with the bigger H given equal cut quality. Have you read the asscher threads in the FAQ? ........... Karl has joined the diamond trade and is now posting as Karl_K |

Hi Mikey and welcome to PS![]() Have you seen pics of these stones?? What are the specs. Here we love to see the pics especially with asschers. We'll go from there.

that's a close call. everyone perceives color differently and the prioties of the wearer are the most important. if i were buying, i would want to see them side by side in order to make the decision.

It's a matter of taste and personal color sensivity. Also remember that each color grade is a range. In this case you could be talking about a low G and a high H, or vice versa. You should be comparing the particular stones in question as belle previously stated.

In theory, those colors should be very close ... so I'd put more weight on the overall appearance of each stone (patterns, scintillation (movement), sparkle) when deciding. I have a 1.5ct GIA cert "H" that the appraiser mistook for a "G" so ... normally I'd say "GO BIG" but I'd rather have a lovely, sparkly, gorgeous, "mile deep" 1.5 than a lesser, dull, flat 1.8. Your eyes should tell you ... if they don't enlist a (female ) friend or, better yet, get pix & post here!!!Check out the dimensions of each stone too ... even if weight is diff - SIZE might not be, also check table size ... ideally it should fall under 64%, some say the smaller the table the more "asscher-y" (I don't - my table is 67%) Good luck!
