My mom just bought a platinum setting and is looking for a good ruby to put in it.  Does anyone know if there is a WF/GOG equivalent that sells rubies?  Or are they better to buy in person.  Any advice is welcome!!

Rubies are hard to buy over the net, id buy from someone in the US with a solid return policy.
Ruby does not photograph true color very accuratly so talking to the vendor is a must as is a return policy.

I went through Wink Jones to source the rubies for my engagement ring and he was very honest about colour etc. It's very true that they need to be seen rather than choosing from photo's. Mine are gorgeous but getting a good photo is impossible!!

I was really fortunate that he had contacts with Richard Homer who custom cut them for us.

Good luck with the search - we look forward to seeing the results.........
