Allright...I get one jewelry purchase this year. I made a lot last year so I'm really not complaining, just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything when I make this decision. Obviously I don't need to make this decision today, but patience has never been one of my virtues. So what would you pick?...1. Trade my .75cwt 5 stone ring for one that is 1cwt (I had always wanted the 1cwt one and wish I had gotten it to begin with!) or 2. Get a pear shaped diamond pendant, probably around 1/2ct. The 5 stone band is my wedding band and I alternate between that and my 3 stone ring (I only wear one ring at a time). I love the band but of course would like something a little bigger. I already have a round .38ct pendant, so I technically don't need another one, however the pear pendant is something I *really* want. ![]() My other option is not do anything and wait until 2007 and make a bigger purchase. Thoughts? Thanks! |

Well, I'm kinda biased, but I vote for the pear pendant. It will face up bigger than your 0.38 ct pendant because it will be around a half carat anyway, but will look even BIGGER than that because pears face up larger than rounds. Besides, you can drool over your 3 stone ring for another year, and then upgrade the band. ![]() That's my vote!

I was going to say go for the bigger band but FG brings up a good point about enjoying your new SK ring and getting a 1/2 pear which would look bigger than your current necklace..did you decide on a setting for the pear if you get one?

For the pear, if that's what I go with, I think I would get either a really thin bezel, or the standard basket setting. I don't want the huge rabbit ear bail though.

I vote for the pear necklace. You can upgrade the band later. Seems like before you were really excited about getting a pear.

Definitely the pear pendant! (And save the new 5 stone ring to celebrate your next good year--which will be THIS year, of course!!!)
